  1. "Pranic Healing" for healthcare providers

Here is what the article you linked to me said: " Media reports, however, speculated that the sex study was just the latest in a series of editorial decisions on topics of current controversy and...
  2. P.S. you can buy it online directly from dermablend. Foundation is like 25 bucks, setting powder is same. I'd recommend going into a store like Macy's or Dillards though just to make sure the color...
  3. "Pranic Healing" for healthcare providers

LOL, that's actually quite funny. Seems to me that if your energy field was truly disturbed, it would be evident in some physical way. The whole light bulb thing made me LOL IRL cuz it seems like if...
  4. "Maybe you shouldn't be a nurse"

Even if the students are given ample time (one semester does not seem ample enough to have full mastery over anything), that is no excuse for an instructor to make such a rash judgment on a student....
  5. Highest paid nursing field?

I see no reason why you should characterize the OP as being a baby machine. That is just flat rude and tacky. You don't know her life circumstances and even if you did it's not your place to pass...
  6. "Pranic Healing" for healthcare providers

Despite it not being a part of the Kaplan NCLEX prep, many nursing programs still teach it. It is irresponsible junk science. I recently read an interesting analogy to this: Therapeutic touching is...
  7. "Pranic Healing" for healthcare providers

Yeah, that was an interesting link. It's someone's blog. And no mention of JAMA, Lundberg's firing, TT study, nothin'. Have a good trip to Bangkok, sounds like fun. If I were with you, I'd buy...
  8. Online Master's Program For Mississippi

USM has an RN to MSN program designed for working nurses. I think their schedule is every other weekend, not sure though. University of South Alabama has an RN to MSN (even RN-PhD) program that is...
  9. Meridian Pay?

Check this out: my husband is an ICU travel nurse on assignment at Jeff Anderson in Meridian. Regular RN's get 20 an hour but essentially no benefits. They can be admitted to their own hospital, but...
  10. Think I am in trouble, maybe fired

Nevermind, just realized above poster was not saying nurses "should break their backs" only that the higher ups expect nurses to that,
  11. "Pranic Healing" for healthcare providers

Also, if you could link where JAMA wishes they had never published the study, I'd be interested to read it. I'm seriously not trying to be a pain, it's just that I'm totally interested in this...
  12. "Pranic Healing" for healthcare providers

The first time I heard it, I thought it was a joke too. Well it kind of is, in that it's absurd, but it's not because it is an actual NANDA dx. Had an instructor in nursing school who told us that...
  13. "Pranic Healing" for healthcare providers

BTW, George D. Lundberg, the former editor of JAMA was not fired for covering this issue. He was fired because of a study that concerned whether or not college students viewed oral sex as "having...
  14. agencies or direct hire???

There's a thread specifically devoted to that area. As for my husband, he works thru a travel agency. There are different kinds of "agencies", ones that will use you PRN (possibility of having to...
  15. Think I am in trouble, maybe fired

Have you considered a nursing job outside of a hospital setting? Perhaps teaching? I don't know what the situation is around the country, but here in the good ol' South, all it takes is ENROLLMENT in...
  16. Mean nurses

As the other posters have said...stay away, far away! I've actually done some thinking on this issue myself. Here's a theory I've come up with that, while may not be true, sure helps me get through...
  17. Totally freaking out about EKG and cardic II test

Excellent! Let us know how you did when you get the results
  18. Totally freaking out about EKG and cardic II test

Don't even sweat the strips. Know the basic ones and the patho behind them. Three questions out of 103 means that even if you bomb the EKG strips, it certainly isn't going to hurt your test scores....
  19. OB Question, Am Confused!

Sarah and Future L&DNurse: Thank you so much for replying. It's clicking now and I hereby nominate you both to write a nursing textbook that actually explains this, lol. The website you referred...
  20. I've used Dermablend and it works great. The key is to get the powder that goes along with the base, it helps to keep the base locked in. I loved dermablend, but it did feel heavy (I used it on my...
  21. giving a massage after a bath..?

We were taught the merits of giving back rubs, but outside of OB I just don't do that. Mostly because clinical is way to hectic anyhow and I can assess their skin and increase circulation to the back...
  22. Totally freaking out about EKG and cardic II test

When I got to that unit in school, my eyes just sort of glazed over and I felt a trickle of blood coming out of my ears. They know it's hard to learn all the strips, so they are probably going to...
  23. How do you deal with Mothers of inmates

Just playing Devil's advocate here (no pun intended).... Even if the I/M's lithium levels are therapeutic, it does not mean that he isn't still suffering from mania/depression/psychosis in varying...
  24. What medical term do you dislike the most ?

I deplore the term umbilicus, pronounced "UM BILL EYE CUSS". Dunno why, just hate it.
  25. Co-worker stole my ID

Wow. I've read all 21 pages of this thread and I'm not ashamed to say that many of the pages made me cry. I realize that the discussion has morphed from the original post, but this is such a heavy...
