  1. What would you do? need advice

I'm in a similar situation...My husband is in the Navy and we'll be moving right after I graduate with my Anthropology degree...He will be changing jobs so we won't know where we're moving until right before thus I won't be able to apply to any nursi...
  2. fear of IVs and drawing blood

I have the same fear but only because I'm afraid I'm going to jab the needle into their muscle and not the vein :) I've had to be given IVs in my neck so I'm not afraid to be stuck, I just don't want to hurt someone else. I'm sure you'll do fine tho...
  3. Great News!

Congrats! I love that feeling when you know for sure you're going to make a good grade.
  4. Micro - I'm just sayin'

As with any class I'm sure a lot depends on the instructor...Mine was so concerned with organization it became a joke...Everything was labeled with our table color, then what side of the table we were on, then what drawer our supplies were stored in,...
  5. What are you doing in between prereqs and NS?

I will either work or volunteer in the medical field to gain experience...Maybe have a baby...It's two years away for me and with a military husband anything can change.
  6. Is there any hope in me becoming an RN?

Don't lie...Own up to your past and you'll be a better person for it...I hate the thought of someone lying and taking the place of a person who actually got good grades and deserves a spot in the program. We all wish we could go back and make better ...

  9. Hi Ya'll! Any new pre-nursing students?

Hi Indecisive! Don't feel like you've wasted any time or are getting a late start...I'm 29 and have been going to college off and on for 11 years...I won't be a nurse until I'm 32 and that's if I don't have to wait to get into a program. I've been to...
  10. Hi Ya'll! Any new pre-nursing students?

I was working full-time when I took Chem, Developmental Psych, and some other random class...I got an A in all three so it's not impossible to work and get good grades...Chem isn't my strongest subject, either, so I had to work pretty hard for that A...
  11. Hi Ya'll! Any new pre-nursing students?

I actually thought about doing something like this but the classes would conflict with my anthropology classes...I've looked into phlebotomy and nursing assistant and they conflicted as well...Maybe they'll have something next summer that I can take....
  12. Hi Ya'll! Any new pre-nursing students?

I'm going for an RN, accelerated BSN. Do either of your programs require volunteer or paid experience? One of the programs where we might end up requires this and I'm struggling figuring out what to do and what would qualify.
  13. Hi Ya'll! Any new pre-nursing students?

I guess you could call me a pre-nursing student :) I'm working on an Anthropology degree and then I will go into a nursing program (hopefully). My husband is in the military so my path is not as straight as others. I've taken Chem, Micro, and Develop...
  14. I never thought that I would want to be a nurse...I didn't want to go through all the schooling and work weird hours...but as I've gotten older I've realized that it's a great profession where I can make a difference and feel fulfilled...I've taken a...
  15. I took Psych online and it was fairly easy...Two discussion questions and a quiz each week plus a research paper...Like the poster above said, it depends entirely on your professor.
  16. For Fun - Things You Want to Buy Once You're a Nurse

    A dock for my house.
  17. I'm not yet a nursing student but I look at it this way...In every aspect of your life you will encounter crabby people and challenging situations...Just deal with them, move on, and don't use them as an excuse for your actions.
  18. How many nursing programs did/are you applying to?

I'll be applying for two - one BSN and one ADN. I only have to take two additional classes to apply for the BSN and the program would only take one semester longer than if I were to go into the ADN program. There is one other program in my area but i...

I haven't even looked to see what books are required...I guess I should do that I'll be checking back to see what others post.
  22. The nurse anesthetist program in my area requires a BSN and at least one year experience in acute care...From that point it's five semesters to get your masters...So a total of around seven years to become a CRNA. While an RN is an RN, from what I've...
  23. Your desired specialty

My areas of interest are: oncology peds nurse midwife nurse anesthetist I would love to work at a children's hospital...Everyone I've talked to, though, thinks it would be a depressing job working with children who are in pain.
  24. A & P 1 -- Fall 2010

I'll be taking A&P1 online and Micro hybrid this fall...I'm not too nervous about them...Just glad I don't have to dissect an animal...That always makes me sad
  25. Struggles with finding a nursing job....

Thanks but I will continue to pursue my degree. I want to have a job that I actually enjoy doing and not just something that will pay the bills. If I can't get hired then I will just use that opportunity to get a higher degree.
