  1. Triage and Assessment Abbreviation

I am a new grad to the ED and have come across some abbreviations when reading ED Triage notes and ED Assessments specifically. I'd like people to add more to the list, to hopefully create a more comprehensive list of abbreviations, as I only know a...
  2. Triage and Assessment Abbreviation

PMS intact - pulse motor sensory MAEx4 = moves all extremities
  3. Triage and Assessment Abbreviation

Our facility does have an approved list (14 pages long!) of abbreviations. However, some people use abbreviations outside of the approved list. I started this post to see some of these "non-standard" abbreviations, not so I could use them, but so t...
  4. Triage and Assessment Abbreviations

I am a new grad and have come across some abbreviations when reading ED Triage notes and ED Assessments. I'd like people to add more to the list, to hopefully create a more comprehensive list of abbreviations, as I only know a few of them. abx - ant...
  5. Scripps New Grad Program

I'll give you a tip. SELL YOURSELF! Why should Scripps pick you over the 50-100 other equally qualified applicants? What makes you any different? What can you contribute to the organization? I'm sure the interviewers already have an idea of whic...
  6. Scripps New Grad Program Fall 2013

Offered employment today. I had another offer, so I had to turn this great opportunity down. Hopefully someone else will benefit!
  7. Scripps New Grad Program Fall 2013

does anyone know what the new grad pay rate is?
  8. I'm going to pose a hypothetical situation - Lets say a person was offered a position at a major hospital system in the emergency dept, where they want to work. The benefits are pretty good, the pay is the lowest out of all the local hospital system...
  9. Scripps New Grad Program Fall 2013

My answers were about 2-3 sentences each - I spent about 15-20 minutes on the entire application. I didn't need to do Talentmine since I had applied for a different job months before.
  10. Scripps New Grad Program Fall 2013

those were the 3 things I have - volunteer work, current PAID experience in a hospital - on the clinical side, not the admin side, and BSN
  11. Scripps New Grad Program Fall 2013

they sent out the mass email for interviews yesterday around 4-5 pm. For the record, I applied around 9AM
  12. Scripps New Grad Program Fall 2013

    nothing for me yet
  13. UC Davis Nurse Residency September 2013 cohort

my application status just switched from the "routed" to "intvw" status. I'm wondering how often UCD does residency, because I don't think I'll have my license by the start date. Can I ask to be considered for the next cohort?
  14. Does clinical do this to anyone else?

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Sometimes I practically fall asleep during postconference. Then I get home and have to study for an exam and a quiz or write a 15 page care plan. It's maddening!
  15. CSUSM ABSN Spring 2013

Be sure you calculate your last 60 based on whether or not you were on a semester or quarter system. And your last 60 counts all of the classes that fall in the semester in which your last 60th unit falls. So if your last 60 units was Fall 2010 sem...
  16. CSUSM ABSN Spring 2013

you can get loans. There are a lot of people who are doing that. If you're at San Marcos, you will use the same labs as the BSN. If you're at Temec, you use the Temec lab which is not as great as San Marcos, but it's good enough to do what you nee...
  17. New BSN Grad- Help!

I think it would be best if you waited to have kids. You're only 22, don't use your baby maker just yet. You need a job first. The fact that you have no past experience, coupled with 9+ months off (if you get pregnant), is not going to look good to a...
  18. CSUSM ABSN Fall 2012

I'm in one of the temecula cohorts and I'll give my 2 cents. I also live in the SD area. You can definitely work 1-2 days a week during 1st semester - classes are a joke. 2nd semester fundamental class/assessment/pharm class are much different tha...
  19. CSUSM ABSN Spring 2013

FYI they posted stats for cohort 13 Fall 2012 Temecula - average points 31; precore 3.53; last 60 3.57; TEAS 83.9. I am in one of the current cohorts at Temecula, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
  20. Have you ever witnessed this situation?

I think you're getting way too gung-ho here. What the pharmacist did was pretty common, though it may not be right. What we're taught in the books are ideal/theoretical situations. Nothing in the real world is ever that pretty. How many times hav...
  21. Dismissed drug felony in CA.

Curious what happened with your appeal nitenurse4ever?
  22. Denied NCLEX by CA BRN due to two DUI's-HELP!

I didn't realize you were able to apply to take the NCLEX through more than one state? Or if you get denied in one state, then you can apply in another state? Didn't the CA denial make it hard for NV to approve? That's what user dinguino is saying...
  23. There's hope for us!! (for those worried about background)

Can you please indicate what state this is from, as all states are different.
  24. Curious if you guys heard anything?
  25. TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?

When someone tries to use an online nursing forum as a platform to preach their religious beliefs (regardless of whether or not I'm religious as well) then all civility goes out the window. In all honesty, if everyone could be a doctor that makes ton...
