  1. Concorde vs. Keiser vs. Sanford Brown (Jacksonville)

I went and interviewed with reps from all 3 schools. Concorde: 12 month RN accelerated program which includes gen ed classes (pre-reqs). They will not accept any pre-reqs taken from other schools. Before you are interviewed for financial aid, yo...
  2. Sanford Brown Jacksonville

I just went to SBI for information as I believe I have better chances getting in this school than at FSCJ. I was told that for the RN program, I would be taking classes for 12 months on campus, then 6 months on externship. The rep showed me the pas...

You seem like a great person. Sometimes a person can be a superwoman, but not forever, and not all the time. You did your best. Goodluck!!!
  4. Things you'd LOVE to be able to tell patients, and get away with it.

ignorance can be fixed. stupidity can't. just because you don't understand my reasoning doesn't mean you're stupid.
  5. Nursing Students or Student Nurses

Student Nurse - you are describing a nurse Nursing student= you are describing a student
  6. When did patients become "clients"?

Or the patients had the patience to wait by the sea shore.:)
  7. Things you'd LOVE to be able to tell patients, and get away with it.

You are exactly right Joanna. I am reading and posting to learn and help as much as I can with what little I know. I have been in the accounting field for too long and reading posts such as these are very informative. Believe it or not, I will go ...
  8. Things you'd LOVE to be able to tell patients, and get away with it.

i agree with both of you. i am naive and clueless and the only points of comparison i have is from a patient's view and the view from a former cna who attended monthly "eye opening" meetings with administration about empathizing with our geriatric r...

  11. Do all programs require TEAS?

Find out from the school of your choice. Like what the other posters said, each institution has different requirements. I took the TEAS test for a private college, and took the NAT for a local community college.
  12. New TEAS V Science Section

I thought I would do poorly in Science (v. 5) - I was a nervous wreck, but I read for a week, mostly gen micro, gen anatomy/physiology, basics of chem, and basics of physics. I did not study for 2 days before the test because I was afraid of mental...
  13. Things you'd LOVE to be able to tell patients, and get away with it.

I hope that in my old age, I will NEVER do anything stupid to offend my nurses. After all, I guarantee that those nurses and the ones they love won't ever get old, tired, scared and senile. Maybe I am saying this because I am not a nurse yet. I migh...
  14. Going to Nursing School at an Older Age

We're like fine wine. We just get better as we age.
  15. concorde career institute (college) jacksonville fl

For Concorde: You first have to set up an appointment with a counselor to get all basic information about the program. If you think the program is right for you, then you will be asked to take the Wonderlic test. After you pass the Wonderlic, you w...

Yes. She worked for a placement agency and was able to work immediately at Home Healthcare. Then she was hired at a Nursing Home. She passed her NCLEX on the first try. I'm not sure where you are from but where she's at, the job market is not th...

  22. Are You a Member of the allnurses.com Grammar Police?

The English language is probably the hardest to master. There are too many rules and exceptions, especially with spelling. And why do you call it building when it's already built? And why do you call it driveway, when you park your car there, and ...
  23. Pre-Nursing - Am dizzy with all the options!

I need to correct my previous post. The difference is roughly $13K, not $10K. I am looking at the tuition and fees for 2010 as I am typing this. The school name is Concorde Career Institute. Although I am reading negative posts about career colleg...
  24. Physicals

I am a Pre-Nursing student, but I would appreciate it greatly if practicing nurses, such as yourselves, would give me some information. 17 years ago, I had a positive reaction to the TB test. I then took the INH for 6 months, even though I did not h...
  25. Physicals

It's nice to hear from someone who's actually tested positive. Did your school require you a doctors note or medical records to prove that you took the Isoniazid? Taking the meds is required by INS (Immigration & Naturalization) before they gra...
