For me personally average about a 6/7. Work depended on the class. I don’t think any of it was HARD, but weekly assignments will take some time. I am not quick and I’d say I averaged anywhere from 6-15 hours a week. Some classes like advanced A&P with pharmacology you have two proctored exams plus assignments and it was a little more difficult class just because it covers a lot of material in 7 short weeks but it was my favorite class. Some classes there are no test, just weekly assignments and discussion board posts. ALL classes have the assignments for all 7 weeks open and you can work ahead of time. I did that as much as I could so I wasn’t rushed at the last minute to get something done. I really loved going through UNCW.

I feel the material is very interesting. Challenging yet not overwhelming. Everyone's first class is 513-Didactic Education. You learn about theory's and you design an in-class teaching assignment. You don't actually carry out the teaching assignment, you just design it. From there it's just whatever class you get registered into. I've taken the Clinical Education class where you design a simulation teaching assignment. Health Assessment class where you use ShadowHealth with a virtual patient and you do lots of SOAP notes. Advanced patho/pharm was tough just because it covered a lot of information but assignments were very interesting. Probably my favorite class so far. Currently in the Distance Education course where you design an online teaching assignment. Instructors are very helpful and responsive. If you don't understand how to do something they are willing to talk via phone call or zoom to help you. I don't think it will be difficult to hold your attention because every week is a different assignment and then every 7 weeks it's a different class. Most courses have weekly discussion boards with responses to peers. Most have some sort of group assignment. Some have quizzes and tests. I went through Chamberlain for my BSN and I feel this is more interesting/easier. UNCW also assigns you a (not sure the correct word..) student liaison person. She called me once a week or so the first few months just to check on me and see if I was having any issues in classes or figuring out how to do online work, etc. She was there to find help if I needed it. I am enjoying the program very much. I am halfway through and feel like it is very doable. Most definitely you can do one class at a time. If you don't need to rush through, I'd recommend one at a time. Many others do two at a time. I have done both at different times. With one class I feel like I can still work, do school, and have somewhat of a family life. With the two, it is still doable, but not much free time during the week. As far as how much time, they say the average should be 12-15 hours and I agree with that somewhat. It really depends on many factors such as how much was assigned that week, which course it was, how much you put into it, or how much assigned reading material you actually do read. Do you read for learning or do you skim through? How much time does it take you to find the research needed to support your information? All of those contribute to your hours. Instructors have been mostly wonderful. The 7 weeks for each course goes by quickly. Let me know if you have other questions. ?

I'm only on week 2 of my first class so not sure that is enough time to give much feedback. I started Summer II session. As someone else stated earlier your first class, 513 professor, is awesome. If all classes are like this one, it won't be too bad. This class is mostly theory. Lots of information, lots of reading, a weekly quiz which is not bad and weekly discussion board. Each week builds on each other in making a complete creation of a curriculum instruction project. Very doable and professor extremely assessable and helpful. I started with this one class just to see how it went with working. Since I work part time most weeks, I think I am going to attempt two courses next.

How have your classes been up to this point? I start in two weeks. Super nervous because I’ve heard no real comments about the program.

How did y'all like the program? Was it doable to do 2 classes at a time and work?

Looking for advise from those experienced with both areas. I currently have been FLEXI in HH infusion for 7 months. I have Onc background, but not HH. I had a horrible preceptor, which even my manager apologized for, but I was still on my own way too soon. For the most part, I’m enjoying the autonomy and learning new things however At 7 months, I’m driving @ 150 miles a work day, and still uncomfortable as I’m given Assignments I’ve never even seen done or haven’t seen since nursing school (flushing a nephrostomy tube or working with toddlers, wound care items) which makes me very stressed and worried about my license. I’ve spoken with my manager who says if I’m unsure she can have a nurse come out with me, but none is available when I have a need. Imagine that everyone is too busy with their own patients. I have a job offer at a hospital occ health department. I just don’t know if that’s the direction to go or not. Looking at pay and growth opportunity as I become an older nurse. OR is it better to hang in there with infusion and give it more time. Thank you for feedback.

YES!!! We were in HI 6 years at Kunia. Lived at the Naval Base in Wahiawa. We must have been there the same time!!!!! Now my husband is stationed at Northwest in Chesapeake. See you in class! Can't wait to talk about HI and nursing!! :-)

YES! I am in the COA class. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with mynursingkit problems! I thought it was me! ;-) I haven't had problems with softwarefornurses. It works for me, however it is WAY over my knowledge level. It's a lot of fun to try to figure out the best action for your patient. I'm getting high 50's for grades, so I'm glad we can practice as much as we want!! :-)

I'll be interested to see what others have to say about this. I'm in the same situation and not finding mynursingkit very helpful. I did ask the instructor and she said there are no answers to the review. Its just something for you to think about and look through the chapter to see how you would answer those questions.
