  1. Where are all the MAs?

Seriously? That would be a waste of time and money. If you are going to do the program look at accredited programs and no others. Would you attempt an unaccredited nursing school?
  2. treated unfairly at clinicals

I would be very surprised if the college accepts your credits. As for your contention that you were mistreated - you couldn't do anything!! You basically went to the site expecting them to teach you the skills you should have learned in your "program...
  3. Short Question? Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant

One can become a medical assistant either by diploma (1 year) or Associate of Applied Science (2 years) and depending on your coursework, some courses - General Psych or English Comp for example - will transfer. Nurse Assistant is generally a class ...
  4. Can't get into Nursing school advice anyone?

Apply to and get accepted into an ADN program, complete it successfully, sit for and pass the NCLEX, work in ICU and certify, enroll in and complete a RN to BSN program with a really good GPA and excellent GRE scores then apply to nurse anesthesia sc...
  5. Fairly new RN with Medical Assistant interview

I am curious how you described your education in the application that got you the interview in the first place. From what you wrote, it doesn't appear that you have been completely honest: "... Who's to say I'll be offered more just because they s...
  6. Favorite "Lay Terms" For Diagnoses

I could use that some days! Some people have a "cysk" removed.
  7. CMA posing as nurse...?

"...We are directly trained by the Doctor. .." Really? So you didn't complete an educational program of some sort? It's illegal for someone who has not successfully passed the certification exam to call themselves a "CMA". Where do hospitals uti...
  8. Using PDA's in practice.

I have an E2 and use it so that I don't have to be "...lugging around 15 pound reference to each clinic, or leaving my NP prescribing guideline at home..." I have transcribed my pearls of practice into it, so I am good to go!
  9. Ok, this isn't spelling or grammar related: What makes me crazy is people talking about getting their RN "degree" :smackingf HELLO - RN is what you get to use after you pass boards.
  10. NP Licenses

Insurers require certification in order to become credentialed and, therefore, to be reimbursed. Why would one not be nationally certified???
  11. ANCC or AANP Exam - Which to take???

Then the continuing ed requirements start..........
  12. Differences (Educative/Clinical) between NP & PA

Well, all I can say is the more I practice, the more I realize how much I don't know and I am ever grateful for all the NPs and PAs I work with!
  13. Hello, I've been at work! I think you're right, pinoy. I had heard about it at a continuing ed program I'd attended and thought that it might be worthwhile if I ever chose to work with someone who required me to take call :trout: . I decided aga...
  14. Greetings, all. I have heard that completion of a course such as this will be required for practice in an acute care facility. the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), the Fundamental Critical Care Support Course (FCCS) is designed for both ...
  15. Should FNP be required for all APN's?

It may have to do with prescriptive ability. Some states have CNS and as such, those practitioners can't prescribe (if I am not mistaken). Being certified as an FNP or even Adult would help you get around that hurdle.
  16. "Can't we all just get alooooooooooooooong......" :icon_hug: Sorry, I have seen the buttons and think they're silly. Almost like the campaign we had here about mosquitos and West Nile; no way was I carrying around a flyswatter!
  17. Got any funny acronyms at your ER???

Ah, the memories........ Remember the quick mental status checks: Does your hair hurt? Do your teeth itch? Do your stools glow in the dark?
  18. Is a yr of med surg really necessary?

no, not "trial by fire" -- refining the skills you learned while you were in school. Many RN-BSN programs want you to have experience first. Go to school part-time while you work. Alot of us have done that.
  19. Divorce And Affairs????

AGREE!!! It went from D-I-V-O-R-C-E to I haven't a clue!! LOL Mario, if you weren't young enough to date my daughter (she's 24.5)...... and I am Italian! I am still single 9 years after my spouse of ~16 years departed for an OLDER woman. I have n...
  20. Any nursing teachers in the house?

Hopefully, Mario doesn't always talk in the third-person. I have ~26 years experience, diploma graduate with MSN and still work in out-patient med-surg as a staff nurse. Personally, I think you have to work at least a shift/pay period if you're in ...
  21. SQ injections

depends what the medication is. some allergy shots are better tolerated @ 90 some vaccinations must be @ 45 Personally, I like 90.
  22. Because they're the ones who admit their patients. The more admissions, the more "red carpet" treatment, the more revenue for the hospital. But, as aus nurse says: "... (I) tell them when they have gone too far down the "too important' track. It ...
  23. Nurse Impersonators

Actually, the "RMA" is the certification granted to graduates of medical assistant programs accredited by ABHES (Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools) who have successfully passed the certification exam. These programs are not numerous and...
  24. Nurse Impersonators

    Where is this happening?
  25. Nurse Impersonators

You may not hear anything from the BON; they may just 'show-up' Perhaps that's what needs to happen, a big fat, $$$$$ fine. In our state, and I would imagine the 49 others, there is a law about who can and cannot legally practice as a registered nur...
