  1. How Has "Reality TV" (A Baby Story, etc) Affected Your Work?

as a teenage doula-to-be-in-training, i figured i might have an interesting POV on this topic. it is as follows: gag. "a baby story." what a piece of work that show is. not the best at accurately portraying a range of realistic births. :stone now ...
  2. Do You Have Any Favorite OB Myths?

i always heard that women carrying girls tend to have more morning sickness than women carrying boys...but as i recall, that may have actually had a factual basis (something to do with B12 count...? it's been way too long since i read that book). en...
  3. apprenticing w/a doula?

hey all- as if i haven't changed my mind about my future plans enough in the past eighteen months, now i'm looking into being a doula. i've been to dona.org and found three doulas in my area. my question is, is it even worth investigating apprenti...
  4. Question about rectal exam

i completely understand the embarrassment. i'm a year younger than you and i've been suffering with chronic pelvic pain for the past six months. one step in trying to find the cause was attempting a pelvic on me; however, since i'm not sexually act...

  8. Questions about L&D

i realize this thread wasn't started by me, but i appreciate the advice too, since i'm planning on going into L&D/postpartum nursing as well :)
  9. Moving in or just having a baby?

i would definitely agree with cheerfuldoer about bringing blankets and pillows-i was hospitalized about three months ago and was never comfortable. (then again, it might have been the constant pain and/or IV meds i was allergic to that may have had...
  10. Birth Control part of discharge teaching?

i've seen the d/c papers from when my mom had me (almost 17 yrs ago) and, as someone before said (forgive me-i don't know names), they told her nothing vaginally until her pp checkup.
