  1. Stevenson University?

    Texxy- $20
  2. Stevenson University?

Tex- Yeah, they changed the order of the courses around a little. You will have an easier fall semester than I did. In looking at your courses, the spring might be intense. Nursing school is hard no matter where you go. Like any program Stevenson...
  3. Stevenson University?

Texxy- sorry, I don't mean to confuse you... My curriculum was different because they made some changes this year apparently. If they have you taking Computer Technology (informatics) in the summer, and then Communication and Pathophys in the fall, ...
  4. Stevenson University?

Texxy- Unfortunately I don't think I can give you much advice on your specific situation. You have to decide what is right for you. However, I will tell you that the part-time program is challenging, and I am sure that there are going to be times t...
  5. Stevenson University?

Texxy- I have the informatics book. I'd love to sell it to you. Make me an offer. I am a part-timer. The program is very challenging. They made a lot of changes to the curriculum last year and had a lot of issues to iron out, so I hope that everyth...
  6. Stevenson University?

I am in the program now and I agree with pretty much everything Nicole said. It's not an impossible program, but it's not easy either... If you come be prepared to work hard. It's intense.
  7. Admission Chances in nursng with a F?

I'm a second degree student and I got in to nursing school with an F in Film Analysis and a C/D in my first year of college in Biology I/II almost twelve years ago. Film anaylsis was a horrible, waste of money class and I just plain stopped going. N...
  8. Johns Hopins Accelerated BSN

Oops, I misread your post! I thought you said that you were already offered a spot @ JHU! My program is ehhh. I'm not so happy with it. In my second-degree cohort, we are losing almost half next semester. People are planning to sit out and apply to...
  9. Johns Hopins Accelerated BSN

CONGRATS Stacy! It's funny, throughout the whole prereq experience I wanted to go to Columbia, but the cost scared me away. So, I ended up at another local university in Baltimore. I figured that I always had the option of going to Columbia for gr...
  10. Johns Hopins Accelerated BSN

Stacy, The past couple of winters have been pretty mild, but we get snow and blizzards too! They are actually calling for 25 inches of snow this winter. Coming from NY, you will have no problem adjusting to the weather here! It's not even really ...
  11. Johns Hopins Accelerated BSN

I am not a nurse yet, but there are plenty of hospitals in the area, and we have the best healthcare in the nation, so I think grads have a comparatively easier time finding a position. The local economy here also mirrors national trends, but there ...
  12. Johns Hopins Accelerated BSN

Stacy- If you want to live in the City, try Canton, Harbor East, or Federal Hill (However they are all not kid friendly) Outside of the city, check out Pikesville (just outside of the city) Mt. Washington (Right on city lines) Owings Mills/Reisterst...
  13. Johns Hopins Accelerated BSN

The area immediately around campus is one of the worst parts of town. However, I think you could easily live in Fells Point or Canton without a car. Hopkins also has a transportation network to help you get around. I don't go there, but I'm a lifet...
  14. University of Maryland Spring 2010

Thanks Grey Lady! In the first semester of my BSN program, we've had close to 50% decide not to come back next semester. Not because they are failing out, but because they are unhappy with the program we are in. Most people are applying to MD beca...
  15. University of Maryland Spring 2010

GreyLady- I have a question, what's the attrition rate for the BSN program at MD? Are there a lot of students who start and subsequently drop out?
  16. HELP Resident calling baby "stupid" What to do!!!??

I would agree with some of the more recent posters. It might not be appropriate to say in front of parents, but maybe this is her coping mechanism. Confront her first. Without doing so you are just going to create drama that is not necessary.
  17. pH Acid Base question

I just worked it out and I got compensated respiratory acidosis... I was told that the greater the difference is the problem system, so the pco2 is more abnormal, so you have a respiratory disorder.
  18. I'm in MD. I always wondered why B&N did this. Now I know. Pretty sad...
  19. Can anyone talk to me re: Stevenson RN-BSN online option?

I have a prof who is a graduate of the RN-BSN program and she said she LOVED it. The BSN progam is a completely different story. Curriculum changes combined with a young faculty = not a happy student here. But I've heard raves about the RN BSN.
  20. Helping others outside of the hospital

If she was in obvious distress, It would have been irresponsible for you not to help her. However, if she was OK then I see nothing wrong with letting the paramedics do what they are trained to do. You are a nurse, but that doesn't mean you have to...
  21. Can anyone talk to me re: Stevenson RN-BSN online option?

I am in the BSN program... I will tell you this, the RN-BSN program is completely separated from the students that are pursuing BSNs. You have to make sure you are evaluating the right program. MissBrittany- The NCLEX rates are an indication of th...
  22. UMB Spring 2010 Applicants (BSN or CNL)

Grey Lady, is it true the NET Is going to be phased out? I've been hearing that...
  23. role of nursing diagnosis versus doctor diagnosis?

I am in my first semester of nursing school and when we pulled out our NANDA nursing diagnosis books, I was like ARE YOU SERIOUS? Impaired religiousity? wandering? Impaired walking? Kind of bizarre if you ask me? It would make so much more sense...
  24. role of nursing diagnosis versus doctor diagnosis?

You don't. I mean you are always going to use a systematic method to asses your patients, but in the "real" world of nursing a lot of this nursing careplan stuff is NEVER used.
  25. Nurse Independent Prescriber?

Thanks elkpark! I guess "independent judgement" isn't a good description, but the nurse better have good assessment skills and know what she's (or he's) doing!
