So I made the mistake of blindly submitting online at AMN and was contacted and spoke with a nurse recruiter.. I had not given permission to be "submitted" - as I had not decided when I wanted, next day I get a cold-call from the Manager of Kaiser and am getting grilled over the phone for over 20 minutes.. I was polite and answered appropriately nonetheless I told this recruiter to please ask me and communicate via email as its easier for me to respond when at work - she continuously texts, calls, and leaves 10 + voicemails So how can I change this recruiter? and have you had similar experiences? This is my first travel experience..

I already was connected with recruiter from this agency and just emailed him my Resume and passed phone interview, now here's their offer: Location Loma Linda, CA 92354 (I am in NY) Salary $35/hr - base Lodging: Residence Inn long-stay hotel what is this?? Lodging amount is separate from base pay Per diem food rate $40 no receipts necessary Flights 2 return flights per month Agency will reimburse for license fees This is a 13 week contract I am not sure if I am getting lowballed?? I see per -diem CA rates as high as $60 in my field (Case Management) I appreciate your input! This is my 1st assignment so could low rate be reason for inexperience? Thanks again everyone!

Stop ! Dont even think about leaving your Corporate job. You MAY be able to contribute more than you think! Establish a scholarship fund at a nursing program, try to find a new grad nurse get a job using your connections, or ANYTHING else than going into nursing "change a life" - - we are powerless, and we only help the corner guy in the exec. dept. make a buck!

Could she may be have meant healtcare associated pneumonia?? For a new grad thats more reasonable than the alternative..

Although in fairness to the manager you are scheduled to be ON the next day and because YOU chose to come in early for extra $$$ you want off on your regularly scheduled day?? I am with the manager on this one, many nurses don't understand what impossible situations we are dealing with...

Umm this is THE norm on med-surg units with ratios as high as 1:7.. I would KILL for 1:4..

Hi everyone, I will be finishing my 2nd year in Nursing on Med/Surg unit and have Tele experience as part time as well. I am however, NOT at all good with IVs, I mean blood work I can manage but patent IVs? I just cant. I have tried, though and just cant get "it" Will this hinder my chances at travel nursing? I mean if I go to a stranger unit will the staff RNs help me if I try 2x and am unsucessful with IVs on a patient? I feel like this is the only thing keeping me from applying to travel positions - my fear of not being able to do IVs and nobody to help! Lol

Not all travel companies have your needs! Pay is the #1 consideration when traveling. So you shouldnt say you dont have any needs! Watch out for the low ball offers as you're new.

Use brute force when necessary to rip it out. Packages dont always need to be open the "perfect" way using the grooves etc LOL

Cr 1.8 on a pt with prior hx of renal failure medication is not a critical call to MD.. at least he didnt write you up for incompetence. (yeah I have had MDs that did this to some nurses who called at odd times of the night!!)

Until Nurses get smart on whats happening around them by posts like these, nothing can be done. NURSES NEED TO WAKE UP AND REVOLT! We're not where the line ends at for ANY and ALL problems of the patient, the hospital, or the union. We're being scapegoated as one cause we just take it all in and try to fix everything. TV broken? Call the Nurse. Phone not working? Call the nurse. Dinner late? Call the Nurse. Tissue box not on table but on bed? Call the Nurse When will the nurse stand up and demand equality and fair working conditions?

The hardest subject in Nursing? Off-subject! in dealing with the backstabbing of classmates and politics played amongst faculty.

You what my facility will be doing? Giving me 8 patients 5 on Tele and say Good luck with that.. SHORT STAFFING SUCKS.

Wow I love the idea! I am actually just looking into travel nursing, have been a med-surg RN for 2 years this November and just want to see a change, but I am scared of going by myself! I am also 25, in NJ let me know if anyone is in the same boat!

Writing you up for not washing hands and disrespectful to students is valid. So is asking Pts how their care is. Thats a manager's main job now.

I applaud the manager for telling you to shut up during a staff meeting about your quable with the preceptor. If I were the preceptor I would have asked to drop you in a second. You dont have a problem with her, your problem is that you have 4 years exp and she has only 1. your ego is hurt.

oh jeez are you serious? First 5-FU can be continuous infusion for 5 days, so the patient needs to be Admitted as an inpatient. If not the patient needs to go to the Oncologist or Infusion Center. You should NOT administer it at home.
