Ahh...the complexity of the nursing school type question!! I'll stick to my answer based on (1) the question never said what kind of xray is needed. A portable may not be an option and the time the patient would be off of suction could vary greatly (...
In nursing as well as other areas - experience is beginning to mean less and less. Attitude is what employers are leaning toward now. It's better to have a new nurse who's willing to work with others and learn than an experience nurse who has seen it...
Is this a nursing school question? I can't remember the nursing school answer but based on experience it is [D]. Suction is there to help remedy a pressure problem in the lung space (i.e. - pneumothorax). Once it is in place it should generally remai...

I'd have to agree. It's hard to think of sex or libido when you are dealing with someone sick, in pain or in need of care. However, it's not so hard to wonder if the individual for whom you are caring may tarnish your career with an unfounded accusat...

Am I to assume that by 'Mphs Gals' you also mean guys? I am curious from someone new and in the area - which hospital system did you go with and why? (You can PM if you prefer.) Thanks, Terence
I'm a recent graduate (12/16) and was actually offered a position with their system. I'd pretty much come to the same conclusion as some of the above post regarding ratios and didn't accept it. I don't believe they a bad network and would consider w...
You may double check that. My friend who is an architect is an architect whereever he goes. He just isn't allowed to consult or work in any way as an architect w/o going through the state in question. I think the same thing applies to RN. You're a R...
It's the same nationally. A lot of people confuse them but Level 1 is always the facility that can deal with the worse trauma for the reason EMTPTORN gave.
I'm in a much smaller city with one major hospital. There is definitely a shortage here. They always have openings and, even now, can't wait for us to get out of school. I think you are just experiencing a local phenom. Terence
Are you using the Delmar Dimensional Analysis Book? That is the same one I am using in my program. Not to contradict the last posts (they are right) but this may be a little easier - especially if we are in the same book. The first thing to remember ...
I would have to chime in on the urinary system, too. There's a whole lot more to that process than I was expecting. It was worth it though. Really clicks when you start studying diuretics in Pharm.
I'll bite... I think a lot of colleges will start their students off with the basics and gradually move deeper and deeper into things. I couldn't speak on every school, but I'd go along with the CNA-type functions for at least a portion of first sem...
Ditto above post: Anything less than 75 is failing, except for the drug calc which is anything less than 90 is failing. After three unsuccessful attempts of any drug calc exam you get the BOOT.
Call me biased - after all it's what I'm doing - but I don't see any problem with going through an ADN program first. I think practically it works out better to be able to get out and get the experience while continuing your education. I look at it t...
My last one for this semester was yesterday! (I've never been so happy to return to my drab IT job.) I'm looking forward to a month off before heading back for a summer Pharmacology course...
I agree with Chris - don't leave the board. There's a lot of experience, information, and support for Nursing students and/or Nurses in this one place. I haven't posted much while class was going on but I have been reading. It's a real benefit to se...

Now see...this is what I am talking about - a Tennessee Nurses forum!! I wondered where all of the southern folk were. I'm a first semester ADN student at Jackson State CC. Good to see locals on the board. Terence
I find it so interesting that in the 2000's we are still dealing with these issues. I'm not sure how your school plans to implement "diversity". Many times the application of the concept can lose sight of the intent. However, the intent is still a go...
I am a student nurse and am required to wear white uniforms during my clinicals. Of course, you'd never catch me in a dress (I'm a dude). but you know...I really don't think the white is bad. I've gotten several compliments on how professional it loo...

Just tap your stylus in the upper left hand corner of the screen (where the time is). It should bring up a menu. Go down to "Delete" and it will bring up a screen where you can get rid of the app you don't want. Terence
So far what I've found is that the skills that are taught for the any of those three choices would be the same. The NCLEX is supposed to guarantee a uniform competency and is just as hard for those that have a BSN as the others. In most places the BS...
If it helps any, I have gotten the nod of approval for RNotes from friends who are already nurses. I am a beginning student but it sold me when I flipped over and found all of the abbreviations, prefixes, suffixes and common meds... Terence
