  1. Sanford Brown Jacksonville

I graduated from their MA program last year and I am in the nursing program now! I love it, but it is a lot of hard work. Nothing at all like MA! I took almost all of my prereqs at FCCJ/SJRCC and have A's, I was happy enough with the education I rece...
  2. Is Sanford Brown really a bad school?

This is a long post, but I wanted to give you the background info! I go to Sanford Brown in Jacksonville, FL. I graduated from there last year for medical assisting. I decided while in that program, that I want to be a nurse. I began taking my prereq...
  3. I am...

    Congratulations! Wish I was....
  4. Many posts before mine have given you advice. I agree with the ones who say you should leave this guy. I was once engaged to a man who was emotionally abusive toward me. We lived together, I worked 3 jobs to support him, while he stayed home and orde...
  5. Concorde in Jacksonville?

Congratulations on your choice. I am like you, if I prayed about something and there is a roadblock then I know that I need to go in the other direction. Good luck with everything. Are you in the day or evening MA class?
  6. It is pretty competitive, however when you do your prereqs if you get all A's or close to it you will probably be accepted to SJRCC or FCCJ in one or two semesters. I don't know a whole lot about fccj, but I know that SJRCC will usually accept you on...
  7. DeeDee, From what I understand Missouri nurses make less than Florida nurses. Don't throw in the towel just yet!
  8. Check out Jacksonville University, in Jacksonville, FL. (JU.edu or jacksonvilleu.com) They have a BSN program with an excellent reputation and the last I checked the cost is 65,000.(I think that was with your AA completed, but I can't remember). When...
  9. Concorde in Jacksonville?

If you don't have your prereqs, why don't you start taking them at FCCJ or SJRCC and apply to one of those programs, it is so much cheaper. And you could be done with your prereqs in 3-4 (MAX) semesters going full time (SJRCC) and then apply to commu...
  10. So Many Students! Will Shortage Now End?

This thread has scared the white nursing school pants off of me! I am a new nursing student. I did get laid off 2 years ago. I did NOT chose nursing because it would be job security, although that did help! I chose nursing because it is my lifelong d...
  11. Advice please, confused

    Sanford Brown, Jacksonville
  12. Concorde in Jacksonville?

It does not make sense to do the whole MA program again. If they would give you the credits, I agree it is not so bad. First, I would ask to discuss this with the president of Sanford Brown, I think he would see it from your point of view. But, if t...
  13. Concorde in Jacksonville?

Huh, I didn't know that Keiser had that "procedure" also. It is interesting, all a money making scheme, I guess. One thing I can say it I have read on here that people were on waiting lists for Keiser and then they got called for an earlier class so ...
  14. Advice please, confused

Yes, those loans do exist. I think they are called living expense student loans. I have not applied for one (but I am thinking about it), but I have heard you have to have really good credit or a co-signer with really good credit. I am scared to app...
  15. Advice please, confused

:yeah:Congrats on your choice and your acceptance to Barry!!! I know how exciting it is to make that decision and put the plan into motion. You are lucky you have the option of moving in with your parents! I wish I did! I guess I could, but I don't ...
  16. Advice please, confused

I am not familiar with the schools you are speaking of, but I can tell you how I made my choice in a similar situation. I had the opportunity to start school 6 months sooner with less classes at a school that costs about 5 to 6x as much as the other ...
  17. Concorde in Jacksonville?

This may be a way to keep you interested in their program versus others. (or to give you extra points on admittance. They do give points for experience.) I say that because the director of the nursing program told me that they are already wait listin...
  18. Concorde in Jacksonville?

The whole program is evenings, although toward the end some clinicals may end up being done during the day, but the way they have it now even the clinicals are done at night.
  19. Concorde in Jacksonville?

Yes, the evening program may be great for some, but I am happy I got in to the January program for days! They start a day program each January. I am so exited with this school right now, I am on top of the world!
  20. Concorde in Jacksonville?

I just want to tell everyone that Sanford Brown's RN program is fantastic. The director is very experienced, and professional. She was the director for a community college in Kentucky and moved here to start Sanford's program. They do have a waiting...
  21. Moving to Gainesville

AGH is closing, I can't remember when, though. I worked at UF Jax and they made the announcement this past Fall.
  22. What mantra is getting you through nursing school?

I don't really have a mantra. And I guess I am a wierdo, because I don't need one. Quitting is NOT an option, I have given up to much to be where I am at and my family needs the income I will make when I am done. Failing is not an option for the same...
  23. What mantra is getting you through nursing school?

:chuckleThat is so funny! I thought I had the only class saying that...and we ALL say it!
  24. I am working 32-40 hours per week while going to school full time. I work on the weekends, 16 hours Saturday and 16 on Sunday. Sometimes I pick up an 8 hour shift during the week. It is hard because when I go to bed on Friday night I say goodbye to m...
  25. How old were you when you began nursing school?

I had prior classes straight out of high school but never finished anything. Then I went for a 1 year diploma for medical assisting and realized a few months into that I wanted to be a nurse. I started taking prereqs just a couple months before my 38...
