(thats 3 lecture and 2 clinical absences and missing the FINAL) Im not normally a hater but cmon......SERIOUSLY??!!?
  10. I wake up early in the am and do some Yoga or have some mint tea or listen to music. Just something to relax yourself. Do something that puts you in a positive place so that you start your day with a smile instead of dreading the day.
  11. Anyone looking into an ADN program in the Cleveland area I suggest you check out Lakeland Community College. Its in Kirtland which is far east, but it is affordable, small/nice campus, and i have never been treated rudely as I have been at both Tri-C and Huron. I came in as an LPN-RN student Spring 2010 and I am graduating as of May 2011! Great program
  12. GREAT LUCK!!!! I know the feeling. I hope everything goes as you want it to.
  13. I am currently at Lakeland Community College. They have and eve/weekend program. and a pretty good bridge for LPN to RN. Got credit for the entire first year of their 2yr program. You will graduate with an ASN, plus they offer a bridge to Cleveland States online RN to BSN bridge.
  14. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! :clpty: The program really flies by trust me. I feel like I just started and I am in my last semester. Good Luck :clpty:
  15. Hey everyone. I am seriously wanting to do travel nursing. I'm finishing my LPN to RN program in May. Most agencies are requiring me to work as an RN for a year before they will even consider me even though Ive been and LPN in peds for 5yrs!!!! > i guess its understandable. I would love to keep in contact with anyone wanting a travel buddy and maybe I can take my first assignment where you are. Traveling alone is the only thing that's putting a ? in the whole travel nursing idea. If anyone is interested respond back and maybe we can exchange info,
  16. Hey keep me in mind I am looking to start traveling in about a year and if the group is still together I'd like to check it out. In the meantime I'd like to get in contact and pick your brains about how its going. Im a 26yr old F. I predominantly work in pediatrics.
  17. I was just wondering if any agencies will take a new grad RN who has had over 5 years of experience as an LPN prior? If anyone knows of any agencies that will consider prior LPN experience I would greatly appreciate the info.
  18. BSN is technically not required. I say apply also. I was told that I would never get a job in peds as an LPN and I have been working in pediatrics for 5 years now. I love it. I am back in school for my ADN and plan to stay in pediatrics as well.
  19. im teneasha! im 25 and i have been working as an lpn in pediatrics for 5 years now! (wooo didnt realize its been so long!) i am enrolled in my last year of school for my adn :clpty: im so excited to finish up and get about a year or two of experience and then this single girl is going traveling! hawaii here i come
  20. Anyone who has finished an LPN to RN program find that having been an LPN previously gave you a leg up on RN positions when you graduated? Im getting nervous hearing people say that they are having problems finding jobs as new grad RNs but these are people who were previously nursing assistants or had no prior healthcare experience. I keep hearing "dont worry you've been a nurse for years, you should have no problem finding a job. Surely your LPN experience counts for something." but as my graduation date approaches Im getting more and more nervous.
  21. I am working as an LPN 36hrs on the weekends. I have class M and T then clinicals W and Th. I work FSS nights 12hr shifts. ITs really tough but you do what you have to in order to get through it.
  22. if i can offer you one phrase of advice it would be "hold on tight because you're in for a ride!" i have had the pleasure of going through lpn school and now i am in my last year for my rn. there are a few things that i have used continuously for both experiences. 1. caffiene- coffee, redbull, rockstar, whatever gets your energy going have it ready because you will need it for studying well into the night, or even through the day (some of the text can be kinda dry and put you right out) **if you are at all into the treadmill i used that to stay awake and read at night (bonus for getting in some extra exercise ) 2. pens and highlighters- i personally like the pens with the red:blue:black:green ink, and i buy packs of highlighters in bulk 3. sticky notes/page flaggers- your reading assignments will be huge so they save you from having to flip through the millions of pages in your book. 4. day planner/calendar/pda- seriously; i highly reccomend taking your syllabus the first day and just writing in when things are due and other important dates b/c the minute you think that you wont forget to do something or turn something in....you will. write it down! also take the time to write in things that are going on outside of school. such as family get togethers, birthdays, when bills are due, etc. you will get so busy studying and other things related to school that its easy to neglect other important areas. **it also helps to schedule study time. i had a weekly sheet separated hourly and i would account for everything. this included sleep, getting ready, commute, work, class, study, and leisure time (you really have to schedule that even if its just to sit on the couch and watch tv) it sounds a little ocd but it really helped me with time managment. 5. sturdy backpack- nursing students dont get the pleasure of carrying one of those cutesy bags. those books weigh the same as an infant. lol. get a good one, lots of people get those backpacks on wheels now. 6. a good friend/companion- you will really need someone to have the tissues ready when you cry, take you out when you need a break, give you a hug when youre overwhelmed, kick you in the butt when you're slacking, and pat you on the back when you're rocking it out! :rckn: lastly, make the most of the time you are in school, gain as much knowledge as possible. dont ever be afraid to ask questions, be the first to raise your hand, and volunteer to do new proceedures. this is your time to learn all you can.....take full advantage :balloons: congratulations & good luck!!!!!!!! :balloons: :clpty:
  23. I have been working as an LPN for 5 years now, I started out in a BSN program and found it a little intimidating being as I had not had any health care experience. The LPN program was quick and gave me a good base as to what I was getting myself into. I am currently in my last year of classess working toward my RN. I can honestly say that being an LPN first helped me sooooo much. It not only gave me great work experience to put on my resume, but it also helped me to have real life experiences to think back on when I am in class. I see a lot of my classmates with extra anxiety in class and clinicals b/c they are in unfamiliar surroundings with new terms/vocabulary and a new "thinking process" I dont have any of that b/c I have been doing it for years now. I used to think that doing the LPN first was a waste of time, but now I am very grateful that I have had the time to grow into nursing and become comfortable in my chosen career path.
  24. Hello Dudette. I am looking to move to France in a couple of years. I am currently in school for my RN in the USA. I would love to speak to you more about the nursing practice in France and also ask you some questions about life in general in France. Thank you:nuke::prdnrs:
  25. This was so inspirational!!! I've been an LPN for 3 years now and I know exactly how it feels to be walking behind the parade when you're dying to jump in front and show off your skills. Im just finishing all of my pre-requisites this up coming semester and so hopefully I can get into an August 2009 class!!! Good Luck to you! P.S. I've always looked for the "more mature" classmates to go to for study help, movitation, etc. and I they've always been the most helpful. So they will be coming for you... (lol)
