  1. Kaplan PCAT program vs ADN

I am attending Kaplan right now going through the PCAT program as a step up to the RN program. I had planned to apply for the Sept 09 session and thought that going through PCAT it would give me an advantage, but from what I hear...it may not. They o...
  2. National University San Diego

Hi Banana and Twilight. Congrats on getting through the TEAS, sounds like your scores are in the pretty good range from what I hear. A few of the girls from the April 2009 cohort got scores in the upper 80's, so I'm sure you two will get in. Can ...
  3. National University San Diego

Hi SDLOVE, I was quoted the same amount. I am taking my prereqs at NU because it just took too long to go the jc route. Plus, for me, I just don't do well in a regular semester long class. I'm taking courses at NU and have been making A's and B's,...
  4. National University San Diego

Hi Tuquies, I was just wondering how you April cohort ladies were doing. Any little bit of info you can relay back to us is a big help. I volunteer at a hospital and worked with your Prof. ****** ****. She is a hoot and very enjoyable to work with...

  7. National University San Diego

Welcome SanDiegoRN2be, this is a wonderful board with a wealth of information. One suggestion, go back and read the board from the beginning, it will answer so many questions that you may have. I'm a volunteer, but don't plan to volunteer 1000+ hour...
  8. National University San Diego

Awe, you girls are the greatest. The other people on this board are most likely pre-nursing working towards applying or waiting for their letter, so your info is very important to us. I for one am keeping a journal of all important info that you gi...

April Cohort...how are you gals doing this month????? Must be very busy because I haven't seen many posts this month. Please, if you can, let us know how you're doing. Thanks!
  10. National University San Diego

Good luck, I can't wait until I am able to apply. I still need my sciences before I can apply and that will take about 4 months. Thank goodness for NU one month courses:yeah:even though I'll be financially in the hole once I'm done
  11. National University San Diego

I believe it takes longer to enter as LVN to BSN. They have 4 cohorts a year with 50 openings and then it goes by a point system giving new students priority. I'm not exactly sure though, you may want to call the nursing dept at NU.
  12. Kaplan PCAT program vs ADN

Thanks knem916, that post was quite a while ago. I have since quit the PCAT program and now I'm planning to apply to National University's BSN program. I wish I could have been in that settlement, because that is exactly how I felt after starting t...

Hi Murse520, I too am a volunteer. I volunteer at Sharp Memorial and one of the RN's on my unit is a NU nursing school instructor. She has been giving me a lot of advice on what I need to do to succeed in the nursing program. I asked her that very...

  17. Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Congrats to both of you. I hope you really did do the research though. Since you both have BS degrees, you can mostlikely get into any nursing program. As I mentioned in this thread before, I had planned to apply to Kaplan but after going through ...
  18. Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

I was in the PCAT program and it was the same thing....very unorganized . I too felt it was not challenging and I ended up quiting the program and am now attending National University. I've heard that the RN program is much more intense, but I can ...

No, I had prior commitments, but will be going in sometime on Monday. I really hope they are hiring because I really need to start working. Wish me luck
  20. Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Yes, work experience IS mandatory! You must have the min. 6 months medical experience, and it's very difficult getting into a hospital position right now. I've been trying for the past 4 months or so. Good luck.
  21. National University San Diego

Haha, you are probably getting confused with me. I emailed you about the job as well. Since I'm not in the RN program yet, I will need much more hours than that. But that is why I want a hospital job because when I do get into the program, I want ...

  24. Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

It's a long story but basically after reading a thread on National University's RN program I decided to pay them a visit and noticed the vast difference between a "for profit" school and a "not for profit" school. In my opinion, Kaplan doesn't have...
  25. Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

They don't have a wait list but you do need to pass the TEAS with a score of 95% and have 6 months or more previous medical experience to even be considered.
