Its just me, but I would find someone dss, health department, someone to report that too. I realize the risks are low but MRSA is nothing to take chances

  6. What's the difference!?!

I'm a cna student but its my understanding from all the great guys and gals on this board that patient care tech is cna plus things like ekg phlebotomy ect. Sounds like a great job to me,
  7. Forced to stay at work...?

Today we found out from our professor who just got back from a conference that there is 200 percent turnaround in cna work. You just gave a prime reason why. It stinks what she did, keep going on with...
  8. Those links are GREAT! Esp the virtual one, I'm going to refer my entire class to it so they can practice hearing the sound. THANK

I'm in CNA 1 in NC and my instructor also does CNA 2. I also posted a sim question about a month ago (its around here somewhere lol :) CNA2 you have to have some cna1 exp, its fewer hours then CNA1...
  11. NC requires a set number of in class and clinical hours before you can challenge but I'm told other states are different. I agree with the other posters, check with your states
  12. Breaking CNA contracts

Its just my op, but breaking that kind of contract is never a good idea. Word gets around in the health care industry. It sounds like from your post the hosp is notoriouse for not keeping its end up...
  13. CNA in an ER? vs ER tech

The hospitals here hire cnas but they have to agree to become NA2 within one year of hire. If you like a fast pace and constant change go for it.
  14. CNA and Phlebotomy

Yes, I'm told phlebotomy by itself is hard to find a job with, but combine it with cna and you're chances of working in a hospital go wayyyy up :) I'm on the waiting list for the phlb class
  15. Failed state skills, retook yesturday

  17. First Week of CNA Program

I didn't know any state allowed challenging the exam. But since your school is private maybe you'll find lots of extra perks and better labs? CNA is mostly about LTC and to go on to CNA2 a lot of...
  18. Fail my CNA Class

I don't understand was it the end of class exam or state exam? If you failed the state exam you can retry again in every state, I think. I've never heard of a cna program that had a final exam that...
  19. CNA Rant

I agree you will be a great nurse. The cnas you mention are the reason so many good cnas get a bad rep. I think RNs and LPNs would give more respect if everyone worked hard, put their patients first,...
  20. On-site certification question

I don't know of any places around here that do ojt. And theres only one place (ltc) that will take graduates who haven't passed the state test but they don't do cna duties and don't get the same pay...
  21. I'm still a cna student but given what hurricanes Gustav and Ike are already doing to the economy, one thing I would consider if I was job hunting right now: cost of gas. Where I'm at the biggest...
  22. New CNA graduate needing help!

I agree with the parts from other posters about not giving up and making sure at the interview your making the right impression. Good ideas from great people :) Two other thoughts to consider, your...
  23. First Week of CNA Program

I'm one month in of a four month program. I love it! :) Our clinical is with real pts at ltcs and we did cpr the first week of class. Easy stuff
  24. How much I appreciate CNA's!!!

Thank you :) I'm not a cna yet either but it does wonders to know my work will be appr. Thanks
  25. Freaking Out over State Exam, Help!!!

I've heard the same thing as the prev poster. Know your scope of practice and the basics of care, like normal resps and basic anatomy and you should be fine. It is the skills you should practice...
