Some of the facilities in this state (Wyoming) will send people to pick you up and take you home, people are delived on snowmobile or ski to work, and the policemen also transport critical staff...
Call a children's hospital and talk to the patient and/or staff educator; if they can not help you I bet they can put you in touch with one of the units where some of the nurses may be able to help....
I don't know where you live.....how is staffing at other facilities? Do they work this short, or with this same patient/staff ratio? I do believe that staff should be called in if someone calls off....
