who ever said 2nd time wasnt a charm...

ok peeps i tested today......for the second time. here is my story. the first time around i studied alot, more like too much, when i sat down at the test i honestly dont think any of the questions were registering with me. i was completely out of it. someone asked before if you could study too much i think you can, im proof, that was in october...fast forward to april, i tested again today. here is how i studied: first time: Prayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stopped at 75 saunders, kaplan strategies, hurst notes, every day all day, not good! second time around: Prayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stopped at 75 kaplan q bank, hurst dvds/notes, lacharity!!!!, infection control pneumonics, exam cram maybe 3-4 hours a day, thats it! i answered all the q bank questions, did lacharity twice, chapters 1-3 of exam cram. it also helps to read through the randon facts thread on here. there is so much good information on this site, thanks to all of you. you have to believe in yourself and want to pass. i went into the test with a headache but i was like please be gone, i also scribbled St. Joseph of Cupertino's prayer on my stomach...thats right:D. i was going to read it again once i took a break but my test stopped at 75 and the screen went blue, i was like nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, not 75 again. this cant be. i had sooo many select all that apply you guys it was crazy, i had 1 dosage, 1 exhibit, quite a few priority questions/delegation and quite a few infection control. i just built up the nerve to try the trick and Praise God!!! i got the good pop up ive read so much about. i just hope and pray still that its accurate for me as well:lol2:. thank you all nurses and thanks to the individuals who have helped me by answering questions that i had and helping reduce my anxiety. let me know if i can help anyone, i really dont mind

who ever said 2nd time wasnt a charm...

hi, there is a book by linda lacharity that helps with prioritization, delegation and assignment. it is extremely helpful, i used the kaplan questions trainers, i answered all the questions for this and wrote down all the answers i missed and read back over them. i also wrote down any medications that i was unfamiliar with, i looked them up, by the time it came time for me to take the test i had pages and pages of notes to read over but it was all worth it. make sure you know your lab values and there is an infection control pneumonic on here that is great. study that too bc i had quite a few questions on infection control on my test. answer as many questions as you can, this will help out alot. im not sure how many questions i answered during the course of studying for this test but it was probably in the thousands somewhere. hope this helps and last but not least pray.

i think in this case you never want to delay treating the patient, bc a possible MI means irreversible ischemia to heart tissue.

Low Score on Kaplan = NCLEX Fail?

i wouldnt put too much into the scoring, just get familiar with how kaplan ask questions because i think they are similar to nclex questions. i did kaplan nclex trainer questions and wrote down answers to the questions i missed and made sure i knew why i missed the questions. and my scores on the nclex trainer questions varied from high to low
  13. Bornleader-NP-C

    just tested

Omgoodness!!! Cut off at 75 questions. Tons, i mean tons of SATA, 1 dosage, bout 7-8 meds, hand full of priority questions, lots of infection control. I wasnt expectn 75 questions more like 265. Scared to do pvt right now.

    NCLEX-RN Timing RE: Per Question

i recently took my test and i know there was one question that i spent so much time on and i didnt get any kind of warning that said move on or anything like that. there were a few questions that i wanted to make sure i got correct. but if u answer a question correctly no matter how much time you spend on it i dont see why they would count it wrong.

    A question for any re-takers??

hi, i recently took my test for the second time last week. the first time my test stopped at 75 questions and the second time it stopped at 75 questions. the first time i honestly think i studied too much because when i went in to take the test nothing was registering. i didnt take my time to understand what the questions were asking and not to mention nerves took their toll as well. The second time was completely different, i studied but not nearly as much as i did the first time, it went from all day to about 3-4 hrs ago of answering questions. i told myself that i wouldnt let anxiety get in the way of me answering questions correctly because i knew i knew the material well enough to pass. i also prayed everyday and even on test day(2nd time) i wrote a prayer across my stomach so that i could pray it once i took a break. but i never got the chance to take a break bc the test shut off at 75 again. but this time i read the questions, made sure i knew what they were asking, when i didnt i read the question again and again if i needed to. i eliminated answers that i knew were not correct. i had so many select all that apply it was crazy. i couldnt gauged myself bc i didnt know if i was doing good with them or not. it took me about an hour and a half. i walked out of the test center in disbelief bc i wanted as many questions it was going to take for me to pass. i knew i took my time answering questions and was like these questions are too easy! i couldnt believe it. i used kaplan questions, lacharity, exam cram, saunders to help me put this beast behind me. sorry this is so long but i hope it helps you.
