   Just suck it up and work short staffed and or call in staff and offer bonus pay. That usually gets one or two people in.

   Where I work we do couplet care and very rarely have floats on our unit but we have in the past and we have just assigned the float nurse the moms and the regular nurses would split up doing her assessments on the babies. It worked out fine.

   Not at my facility. Only if it is crazy busy will she "help out" but does not take a pt. assignment of her own.

   Trachs/vents the sounds of suction or if the pt coughs and dislodges the trach with secretions. OMG! Brushing/cleaning someones dentures. EEWW Washing someones feet. Gross Oh inserting an NG tube.

   At my hospital we do 1 hr recovery for vag and 2 hr for c/s before transferring to M/B depending on complications. baby stays with mom for vag and for c/s baby goes to nursery for assessments, meds ect until mom is stable. MB does couplet care usuall...
