    Does psych nursing hire LPNs?

I am about to go to LPN school and I am just looking into my options. So are LPNs utilized in this area? Also is size a factor? I am very petite at 5 foot, 120lbs. My husband thinks it would be a danger to me.

    Does size matter.

I am about to go to nursing school and I am just looking around at my options. I live in Fl, does anyone know if corrections hires LPNs in the Jacksonville area? Also, I am a very petite person. 5 foot, 120 lbs. My husband thinks they wont hire me anyway because my size would be a danger to me. Do you know if that is true? I dont know much about this area of nursing. Thanks for any help!

I need help with a topic for gerontology.

haha, I was going to say sex... I saw a really interesting study about the growing percentage of STDs in older americans due to having sexual realtionships with other partners once their husband/wife had passed. The majority if them were not aware of how to protect themselves.

    Gas reimbursement?

I live 50 miles from town and I wanted to know if anyone has heard of having employers reimburse you for your mileage? I am about to attend LPN school and will be working at a nursing home after that. I know I am getting ahead of myself but I just wanted to know.

    Importance of GPA for LPN

I am worried because I just found out that my GPA will be looked at when I apply for LPN school. Before, I was told that the TABE was the main thing they were concerned with. I am not worried about the TABE because I have been brushing up on all the skills. I am worried about my GPA because it is very low, I didnt take college seriously for a long time and now it is biting me. I live in Fl, does anyone know how heavily GPA weighs in getting into LPN school if you have a really good TABE score?

    Wearing long-sleeved shirts under scrubs

When I worked in a nursing home we all wore long sleeved shirts under our scrubs. I usually end up taking mine off after an hour, they keep nursing homes like 80 degrees!

    Keiser opinions? Please help.

I am getting ready to start nursing school. I am considering going to Keiser University because it takes so so long to get into nursing school where I live. I can get in to Keiser faster meaning faster graduation. I have heard mixed things about this school. Could you tell me what you know about it or have heard?

LPN's just glorified nurse aids in LTC? Huh?

I am a CNA at a nursing home and that is so far from the truth. The LPNs and RNs are considered the exact same except for a few things the LPNs cant do. Most of the nurses I have worked under have been LPNs.

    LPNs glorified Techs?

I have heard that LPNs who work in hospitals are basically glorified Patient Care Techs. DO you find this to be the case? I currently work as a PCT ina nursing home and I have supervisors who are LPNs so I know this is not the case in a nursing home. I am going to be in LPN school next year and am tryng to figure out if a hosptal would be best for me, but I have heard there is such a huge difference in the way LPNs are viewed in hospitals versus nursing homes.

How do I decide if I should become a nurse? - LONG

What I did was took a CNA (certified nursing assistant) course, which was about $400 in FL and took 16 weeks. They call it a PCT ( patient care tech) if you work at a hospital, I work in a nursing home. This puts you right in the environment, you are up close with the nurses and the action. I have learned so much including that I do want to be a nurse. I start school next year.

What do you think about the tech schools?

I live in Jacksonville. I am thinking about going to one of the technical schools for my LPN or RN (have not decided) and I have heard mixed things. Some say they are a rip off and nurses from there are looked down on and others have said "A nurse is a nurse" What have you heard? Or what do you know? I am interested becasue I have heard that you can get in a little easier and finish faster, is this true? The schools in my area are ones like Keiser, Sandford Brown, and some others. Please help!
