yeah, I don't know why they don't model after JDCC, everyone that comes out of JDCC only says good things about that program. Can't say the same for PJC. Also, the administration did change recently....
I'm starting in January too...I was really worried about this program. A lot of people flunk out...BUT, there are people that graduate so it can be done. I try to see it as "if she/he can do it, so...
Thanks for your input! This is a good idea, but to be a CNA it takes a 6 week certification course. I make more than CNA's now, so there's no way becoming a CNA would allow me to save some money....
i'm not trying to be rude or anything, but i think this is a really closed minded way of looking at it. yes, debt sucks, any kind of debt...but sometimes it's inevitable. sometimes it's the only way...
Thanks! I'm feeling a little better now. Michellendylan: I am in the exact same boat you are in, there is no prospect of me making more money anytime soon and my job just barely pays the bills as it...
Thanks! I also plan on paying off the line of credit (if maxed out) within two years after I get my first RN job. Right now I'm used to bringing home about 1700/month, new grads here bring home...
I know...and I wanted to hear the truth, that's why I asked. I guess I just hoped for a more positive answer! :) Just out of curiosity, what would you all consider an acceptable amount of student loan...
Wow....I guess I can just give up on my dreams then. There's no other way. Did I mention that this is the worse case scenario, assuming me and my husband can't find part time jobs? But it is still a...
I just applied for a hostess/food service position with a local hospital, PRN...I'm thinking maybe I'll go up there tomorrow with my resume. I would think that they would consider me since I'm going...
Thanks for your input. I would love to be able to work while in school, but my job is not flexible. I work 9-5 and school hours are during the day. I have small children and daycare hours are also...
Thanks for your reply! I got turned down for private student loans, so that's not an option and it's not credit cards, it's a line of credit and the interest is 8.75 fixed, which is better than most...
Laylani, Wow...your post is really eye opening. I have been back and forth about going to PJC. I want to choose it because it's closer, but I keep getting pushed in the other direction by peoples...

I'm 25 and have 2 kids under 3 and I probably won't finish nursing school until I'm 29 (if things work out the way I plan). I had plenty of time to finish nursing school straight out of high school...
What is the pay like exactly? Also, if you are moving out of here, where are you planning on going that has better pay? I would love to get out of this area as well, but I always wondered if it be...
My school offers a night and weekend nursing program that is partially funded through area hospitals. The schedule is tues & thurs from 5-10 and every other weekend it's sat & sun from 7-7...
It's been about 4 years since I took A&PII. At that time, I withdrew from the lab (I wasn't nearly as motivated back then and did some stupid things). I passed the lecture with an A. Now I'm...
I've read a couple of people on this site saying stuff like "Don't go into nursing for the money" and "Don't expect to get rich with nursing", etc. I'm curious as to why some are saying this. I've...
It's an RN program and it lasts 5 semesters. From what I understand, the sponsoring hospital actually selects the students it wants to be in the program and the clinicals are mostly done at that...
She's paying just as much into taxes as you are, so in a sense she's paying for herself to have those "free lunches and health care". Your taxes go to much more than just paying for her children to...
I don't know who you are talking to. But in general, people don't usually get formal with their writing on forums and blogs. It's the internet, not a school essay. Now I do agree that simple spelling...
Beachbum, I do understand what you are saying. My mom was a single mom with three kids as well and I know how tough it is. I have 2 kids, however I am married and have the help from my husband. He's a...
No I didn't go to school for my "banking" job, right now I'm trying to complete my schooling to be a nurse. Why are you asking these questions about my "banking" job as if I'm proud of my position or...
