  10. Care Planning

I have a question about care planning certain medications. In my facility, we care plan Coumadin and Heparin because they are monitored with lab tests. Does anyone care plan other related medications, (i.e. Lovenox, ASA, Plavix, etc) and, if so, what...

I recently went to a seminar where the speaker told us the best way to get CNAs to code ADLS correctly was to use the actual G section of the MDS.
  15. How do you decide on an ARD?

I agree. Our medicare coordinator gives the therapist the ARD date and then the therapist then gives her the minutes and lets her know if grace days are needed. By doing it this way, the assessments are done in a timely manner.
  16. How do you decide on an ARD?

if things come up or occur after the rb2, if you've set it for the last possible date available between assessments, then you will not be able to include them. if you go past the 92 days between assessments to capture it you will be late with your a...

  18. How do you decide on an ARD?

quarterly assessments can only have 89-92 days between them. for example...if you do a quarterly 1 in december with an ard of 12/18 and an rb2 of 12/21 your quarterly 2 must have an ard of no later than 3/18 and an rb2 of no later than 3/21. if yo...
  19. Recovery Audit Contractors

i understand what this is saying but, as it says in the area i highlighted in blue, the grace days are used for the patient and when he or she is unable to participate or tolerate therapy to acheive a high rug. nowhere in the above do i see somethi...
  20. How do you decide on an ARD?

If your resident did not go out to the hospital, you have to base your ARD date on the day of admission no matter what. If you go over 14 days from day of admission you are out of compliance and will be tagged by state.
  21. MDS Cordinator

That's the program we use. It should have a reports tab which will give you a MDS schedule choice to click on. Choose it and it will give you a shcedule for assessment due dates.
  22. MDS Cordinator

Replying to GerinurseTara (continuation from above reply. hit wrong reply button so had to improvise.) The ARD date is determined by date of admission or previous assessment. For example. New Admission: Observation= day 1-7 RB2= day 10 VB2= day 14 ...

  24. MDS Coordinators on call question

You poor thing. I hate taking call but atleast I'm not expected to do all that even if I'm not paid for it. I think I'd be looking for a new job.
  25. MDS Coordinators on call question

While I agree that one should not let titles go to the head, I do believe that there is a big difference in what an MDS nurse does and what someone in who works the floor does. Having worked in both capacities, I understand the responsibilities of bo...
