  1. Do I NEED to get my BSN?

I would be looking at ~200 per credit...$194 I think? And if I get in like I want to, I'll have 35 credits to complete, so $6790 which is crazy cheap when you compare it to the almost $8000 it would take to complete my LPN program which would only be...
  2. Do I NEED to get my BSN?

Since they advertise for LPN or RN, I'm guessing you don't need a BSN because if they required that, they wouldn't hire LPNs.
  3. Do I NEED to get my BSN?

Doubt it. I hate hospitals, and it takes a hell of a lot for me to even visit family members in the hospital, so I can't imagine ever wanting to work in one. Not just that, but it's so much more stressful and unlike at a pediatricians office, you do...
  4. Do I NEED to get my BSN?

What if I have literally no desire whatsoever to ever work in a hospital? Because I don't. And I never have. My dream job is at a pediatrician's office -- yes, if I could choose to do anything out of the million things you can do in nursing, that's w...
  5. Do I NEED to get my BSN?

So I guess it really just depends on the area then. Like I said, my area still hires LPNs in the hospitals which is why I had been planning on getting my LPN, but getting my RN at the community college would cost less than finishing my LPN program (I...
  6. why do many MAs and CNAs call themselves nurses?

I personally think it's because they want to seem higher up than they actually are. What I've experienced most is people saying they're licensed when they're a CNA...and as you all know, CNAs don't have licenses, they have a certification, hence the...
  7. Do I NEED to get my BSN?

Yeah...mommy and daddy aren't paying for this one. They paid for my BA 100% though, so I really can't complain. I'm almost 25 years old, and I've worked full time, in fact, I started on one career path, and realized that there wasn't really anywhere ...
  8. Do I NEED to get my BSN?

I live in a very small city, so the websites of places don't really have any information on them except what position are open. But like the hospital for example (yes, we only have one hospital for the entire county, not even just city) posts the mos...
  9. What do you do in CNA class?

What do you do in CNA class/training? Is it like a mini nursing school? Is there homework/tests? Lab? I know there's clinical...but my employer who is giving this course really didn't tell us anything other than classroom hours (8am-4pm) and that cli...
  10. What do you do in CNA class?

Thanks. I really just wasn't sure what to expect. Worried is the last thing I am -- I've already done two semesters of nursing school...so if it's like a mini nursing course, it'll be cake :)
  11. Question for medical assistants

There's an entire subforum for MAs and CNAs...
  12. Starting CNA Training next week

    Bump.
  13. CNA or RN?!?

Some LPN programs are 3 semesters, and with some (like mine), you only get to transfer into the 2nd semester of the RN program. Just something to think about.
  14. CNA or RN?!?

Like I said, I haven't seen a single one...but it could also be location. I see you're in North Dakota. I'm in NY. And around where I live, if you had to have your CNA before starting nursing school, about half of the high school graduates would have...
  15. Free CNA training???

I think your best bet is to try and find training at a nursing home. I know a lot in the area I currently live in have paid training (and then of course you have to work for them), and in my hometown we have a few that do paid training as well.
  16. CNA or RN?!?

I don't think this is true at all. In fact, I haven't seen a single program which required CNA first, and I've looked at quite a few!
  17. When should I start applying for jobs?

I'm graduating from my LPN program December 17th, and my instructor said the earliest we'll be able to take our boards is mid to late January because it takes the state that long to process our paperwork and give us PTT. I plan on taking my boards in...
  18. When should I start applying for jobs?

I can't take it until the end of January at the earliest. But I would like to have some options before I take it.
  19. When should I start applying for jobs?

I'm graduating from my LPN program December 17th, and my instructor said the earliest we'll be able to take our boards is mid to late January because it takes the state that long to process our paperwork and give us PTT. I plan on taking my boards in...
  20. When should I start applying for jobs?

I know in NY you don't have to have a license to be hired. You can be hired as a GN (graduate nurse) on the conditions that you'll pass your boards in X amount of time. I also know that for PP I don't even need to be a nurse to work there as medical ...
  21. When should I start applying for jobs?

I'm in Upstate NY (don't want to give an exact location, but let's just say about a half hour from Cortland. I go to school in WNY, but am moving back home, 3 hours away, and at home, the county hospital doesn't even hire LPNs, plus, a hospital woul...
  22. How long is your program?

Awesome! I'm Not sure when my classes will be done, but if it's the same as last semester, I'll be done two weeks before graduation. I hope so! I also hope this semester is easier than las semester like I've been told by multiple sources *crossesfing...
  23. How long is your program?

I go back Monday. But I graduate December 17th!
  24. How long is your program?

I think mine is still the shortest. Wow. I recalculated it, and it's really only 7 months, not 8. It was about 3 1/2 last semester and is 3 1/2 this semester.
  25. Engagement/Wedding Ring Question

I just got engaged, but for now have a "stand in" ring so my fiance can save up and get me a "better" (read: more expensive -- it's what he wants and I'm fine with that lol) one. Well I've been looking, and I found one that is absolutely gorgeous, bu...
