Well here is my experience. I had a patient who was quite ill on a cardiac floor and one night he really felt like he was not going to get discharged. He was scared and asked me to pray with him. I am Jewish, he is Christian. All I did was hold his ...
I picked D after rereading the question, first would of been A but then thinking like an nclex question I ended up with D thinking that an infant/toddler would not of understood humor but might (small might) understand a more real (reality) train of ...

Reading the above post, I guess the difference is that in my hospital you would NEVER have to float to ICU if you didn't work in ICU..as soon as a friend of mine transferred to HSU (heart surgical unit), when necessary she floated to ICU and if it wa...
Cardiac step down and IMCU, 18 beds, 3:1 IMCU, and 4:1 tele, rarely 5:1, nights monitor tech,2 PCA's till 2300 and one PCA 2300-0700, we do vitals when we assess and pca's do 2400 vitals and accuchecks. we again do vitals when we do meds at 0500.
I agree, work cardiac floor and can have IMCU patients but would of been ok with that patient especially with other experienced RN's around to answer any questions....would of been a great learning experience...we have to have ACLS on our floor too.
I agree, I went to a cardiac step down unit after I passed my boards, I love cardiac but don't like ventilator (ICU), so IMCU was a perfect choice for me. Also a 3:1 ratio for IMCU and 4:1 for tele..so lucky to be where I am!
We titrate cardizem but our ratio is 4:1 maximum, rarely 5:1, full time monitor tech and charge RN with no patients..and only 18 patients on the unit maximum..we are cardiac step down/IMCU..
