  2. Agency Use? How Much & Staffing Solutions

Holy crap that's horrible! We blow our budget EVERY month because we use agency, but until I can hire more staff it's a necessary evil.

  7. CBD administration in schools - thoughts?

There are CBD tinctures that are 100% legal in all 50 states and contains no THC. There would be no reason for them not to give it. But they probably need to be educated about it before they'd allow it. Check out hempworks.com they sell one of the be...
  8. hypoglycemia question...

This might be a silly question but I'll ask anyway. If you have a patient that is hypoglycemic, we start with juice with sugar in it, or glucose tablets. I was told once that you'll want to follow up treatment with some protein, to help keep them fro...
  9. hypoglycemia question...

I miss spoke, we start with orange juice, if it is lower we will add a packet of sugar. We can give glucotabs, but sometimes the juice is more accessible. The protein was to avoid the secondary spike in blood sugar.

I always start my shift seeing patients and doing my assessments, they only take about 5 minutes, flush any IV's, check what's running, etc. if they need pain meds I make that a priority and get it when I'm done with them. Then onto the next patient....
  11. I just can't do this anymore...

I'm sorry that you are feeling that way. Is there another carer that you could put your education towards and get a different degree? What is it about the job specifically that you don't like? Think about what does interest you and see how your curre...
  12. Wwhen to disclose information about license?

Does the warning with stipulations prevent you from doing this job? Either way I think I would wait until they offer you the position. Then that way you know they like you and may want to work around it.
  13. What would you have done?

I would have talked with the patient about the affects of the medication and my concerns. If they didn't want it, then I could chart that they refused. I'd rather side with caution. Just because they are md's don't make then right all the time. Or yo...

  20. Pharmacology Failure - Need Advice

I would agree with the first post. Know what the suffixes are. Like with cardiac drugs ending in olol they are Beta blockers. Know thataa Beta blocker blocks the stimulation of the Beta1 receptor in the heart which lowers blood pressure and heart rat...
  21. Choosing a new career path in nursing, so many questions?

If it were me I would do the RN. I know a lot of hospitals here aren't even hiring for LPNs and the ones they do have they are having them get their RN. Plus if you are going back go for the gusto! Good luck!
  22. Congrats! I went back to school later like you I work part time, have a son and got divorced in my second quarter. It is a lot of HARD work but totally doable. The best advice is be ORGANIZED. Know what is due when, what to read. In the first couple...
  23. Thoughts on this new note taking method I just thought of?

Do you reread the chapters before class? Well at least skim through it? Then you'll have an idea of what will be in class. Also do they provide learning objectives for that subject? I skim the chapters, then when I go back and read the chapter I have...
