  1. Same gentlemen had broken an aid's arm, scratched and bitten before.. Never to me..
  2. While trying to clean an incont pt of bm, he tryed to fling some at me. I picked up the warm, clean soapy water in the basin, and poured it over his bare chest. Oh the look on his face. Whoops... He NEVER was cruel or resisted getting cleaned up again.
  3. What the Hell is wrong with people.. They have these beautiful babies, then abuse them... I have seen very little of this, THANK GOD, or I think I'd try to do more than just call the authoritories... I'd go out of my mind. This is why at this stage of the game, I take care of the elderly. There is abuse there, but not amount of the little ones. :redbeathe At least I don't have nightmares like the times I did when I reported the parents I did... :redpinkhe
  4. Only someone in health care can appreciate the fact, sometimes our bodies just won't go anymore...:redbeathe:dncgb:dncgcpd:by:
  5. You could have pleaded temporary insanity for the arson charge.... LOL
  6. As a CNA, I do not check veins, but look at ankles to see if they could be pitted edema for me to report... I do the pillow condom and corners at home, and wash the hands, wrists, and elbows more than necessary. Also knock on all doors before entering. Even the closets... DUH... Once after pulling 2 - 18 hours in 2 days, I fell asleep in the john at work. I fell asleep in my car once, as soon as I was sitting down... was in the parking lot with my keys in the purse, Thank God, and not driving... Hats off to each and everyone of us.
  7. You can always work at Walmart... It's a free country....
  8. Unfortunately I was fired from a job because of resident untruths. This caused me refusal to two other jobs in the future. It has been 3 years, and I now have a GREAT job which I love, but it doesn't take away from the way I felt then. My husband was disabled and we had just gotten good benefits which I needed. It was my word against the resident and the DON would not even tell me WHICH resident so I could defend myself. I was asked if I wanted union rep, and I told the 6 mangmt people in the room during my "exit" review that "why??" it was my word against theirs... It still hurts. My reputation was on the line..
  9. I can relate to this... But I get calls from other caregivers, anytime, Where are the Incont. pads? (In the linen closet where they have been for 3 years)... Where did you put my lg gloves? (I HAVE NOT seen your lg gloves!!) Will you pick me up 5 boxes of lg gloves at the office, because I am not going there soon! (OK, I will go out of MY way to drive the 7 miles to pick up YOUR gloves... RIGHT!!! I'll take a call from my little 91 year old ANYDAY... :redbeathe
  10. Sorry, but I am going to crack up... "To poop or Not to poop" seems to be the question. Guess I had a wine too many... Sorry... LOL
  11. This happens ALOT in the LTC where I worked. I was shocked when I started working as a CNA that co-workers could change residents and NOT SAY A WORD to the resident, but talk to each other over the resident. I think if I was awoke, brief taken off me without an explaination, I would go to battle too.... I think if we showed more respect to the elderly, demented, it would make our jobs alot easier.....:redbeathe
  12. I agree. Talk about animal cruelity.....
  13. YOUR BAD.... I remember how frightened I was. Then this other aide tells me to reposition it ! Seems the aides were doing this in the past... I went to the gyn with this poor demented lady, but refused to do it myself!!
  14. :barf01: that would be enough for me to RUN, not walk, away from nursing... Poor thing. She needs a shrink, sofa, and a long vacation....
  15. same 80yr lol in assisted living, thought her sister lived down the hall.. called the local undertaker at midnight and asked him to pick up her sisters' body. never said were she was calling from, sooo, heorifice was driving around local hospitals, nursing homes, etc looking for "dorothy". went back to his office at 5am, looked through his records and realized that the services for "dorothy" was 6 years prior....lol it's a hoot when they have their own phone lines....
  16. and then there was 80yr lol in assisted living. each time her hemmoriods would flair-up and bleed, she would crawl into bed and ask for meds for her "curse" lol
  17. Sorry, I worked nights. We had our share of work to do. I had 3 people to get up. Sorry, we gave a shower, made beds, answered call bells and responded to those off our "list" I got sooo tired of day telling us we needed to get the diffucult ones up because we 'had time'!!! We often went without breaks (non-smokers) and lunch, eat and run... Each night we had our routine of stocking, cleaning, marking new supplies for residents, along with our 2 hr rounds. 2 aides for 40 people. We changed sheets in the middle of the night, watched the fall risk residents and sat with the ones leaving us for something better.. I will never regret those times... We took our breaks and did our charting holding the hands of those passing away. We also took care of providing snacks to residents from the kitchen and feeding those snacks to the ones unable to feed themselves. We helped the nurse when ever asked, from supositories to cathers. Sorry, I worked my BUTT off..... Any emergencies or falls, we took care of the needs for one person. We didn't have "extra" people around for firedrills like the other shifts. Thanks for letting me vent. I've worked all shifts. NONE are easy.
  18. ME TOO... I worked LTC for 3 years. Nothing mattered. I couldn't get my people up with good feeling of proper care. If I brushed teeth, combed hair, made beds, etc, I was always late. If I was on time, my residents were not ready for the day. God forbid if there was an extra need. Soiled brief, sheet change, etc. NO OVERTIME allowed. NO working past your shift. Get them out and ready. I left for my own sanity. I never felt I had enough time to care for the residents as needed. God Bless the ones who are able to cope...
  19. :barf02::dzed::barf01::barf01:
  20. You can not make stuff like this up, even with the best of the imaginations.....
  21. NO, but it makes me giggle.....
  22. YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID ......:bowingpur (Just laugh at it and it WON't go away)
  23. 2008 - Aortic valve replacement "when do I get the good drugs" "Right after you answer all the questions we need to ask" ' "OK, we are taking you to the OR" OUT Waking up at 2am and looking at a HUGE clock.. Thinking "WOW this is what open heart surgery feels like" OUT Pulling the tubes out of my lungs "OK now, take a deep breath" Thinking "Wow, I've made it this far already" Trying to get out of bed to urinate, while I had a cather. Standing at my bed to urinate, with the cather in. Great drugs..... Kind nurses.... Great doctors...
  24. OMG This really maked me want to puk...:dzed: This is why I went from LTC as a CNA to home-care. Less money, but more sanity.. :chair:
