  1. Nursing or X-ray

Well, I can't answer any questions but wanted to tell you i'm kind of in the same boat. I am curious to hear the responses! I took pre-req's for an lpn program last Summer, but had to drop bc of medical reasons/money situations. So now i'm going this...
  2. What's your story? Why did you take up nursing?

When I was in my first and only pageant at seven years old, they proudly announced that "Tara says she wants to be a nurse when she grows up" I don't know what made me want to be one back then but I apparently did. I then grew up and changed my major...
  3. Big News...And A Decision!!

Congratulations!! Lpn's are nurses too! Nothing to be ashamed of!! Our lives are so different, Lpn programs are more suited for some of us!
  4. Are LPN/LVNs a dying breed?

I think they are only "dying out" in a few hospitals in a few states. Here in the South, they are still needed everywhere!
  5. PRAYERS for NCLEX-PN

Congrats on making it this far!! I will definitely say a prayer for you. You must be really excited!
  6. Apologizing for being "just an LPN"

I totally get what you mean. And am so sick of hearing about how pointless LPN school is. I also have two kids, hubby, house, and am BROKE! Most people my age don't have that responsibility and their parents can pay their tuition, housing, etc.. But...
  7. Looks like I am not attending school

Hang in there, the year will fly by. Just try again. Study harder. Now you have a whole year to really drill the stuff in your brain. Hope you don't give up!!
  8. Any lpn students?

Yea, I tend to agree with you. The only thing I didn't like about ithe original school was the distance. It took about an hour to get to school everyday once I dropped the girls off at daycare. And this other school is literally about 10 min away fro...
  9. Any lpn students?

So do you think I should just go back to the school I started last year? I really loved my instructors and classmates and would love to see them again, but graduating in August 2008 sounds a little better than December 2008! But it is ultimately only...
  10. What a nightmare. Bullying. (long)

You've gotten some great advice here, just wanted to tell you I hope you feel better. It sounds stressful in every way for you. You sound like a great classmate and that's sad they can't appreciate all your help. I know I would be greatful for it! I'...
  11. Any lpn students?

I started my pre-req's last Summer for the lpn program nearby, but unfortunately had to sit out due to my health (Crohn's) and finances at the time. The program is 16 months long and I just found out the college right by my house is starting a 12 mon...
  12. Which program to apply to (LPN vs RN)?

Going straight for the RN is also a waste of time in some people's opinions. LPN really prepares you and you can work while bridging to RN. It really depends on your personal situation like work schedule, kids, etc. Everyone is different and you just...
  13. day care and nursing school

I also have two daughters. (Ages 3 & almost 2) I took my pre-req's last Summer when they were 2 and 1 and it was hard on my one year old for the first couple of weeks or more. I had to quit school for a year due to health and money issues (daycar...
  14. Which program to apply to (LPN vs RN)?

The LPN programs here are 18 months. Even still I vote LPN over RN. I also plan on being an RN someday, but IMO it's the same amout of time if not quicker to go the LPN route first then bridge to RN. Here's my take on it: Lpn = 18 months + 12 months ...
  15. What classes are helpful to take while on waitlist?

I was just about to post something similar, like "what do you do to keep focused while on the waiting list!!?" lol.. I started my pre-req's last Summer for LPN and was supposed to continue that August until December 2007 when I would of graduated. I ...
