Hello ruhi, It is scary esp. when you hear & read all the stuff in the news. I will not say it is a waste of money but the program is still in the infant stage. This will be the fourth class. It was extremely hard and frustrating. You do alot of self teaching, what I mean is YOU have to read alot to truly understand the material. There is not alot of help. It is not a year program. We started 01/05/09 and graduated on 04/05/10 but you dont really graduate until you pass the HESI exam. I have friends still in program because they still have not passed the exam(2nd & 3rd class). So they dont have a diploma and the can't work as a nurse not even a graduate nurse cause the have no diploma. Our class is still waiting for the funding they said was coming, still hasn't come through. I read all the info about this school before I went and I still went. Can I say it was my best decision, NO!! but the end result is I passed the program(with alot of hard work, no sleep, not working, and a failure engagement), passed the Hesi(with outside help, paid by me), and I passed the boards. You need to make your decision and once you make it pray and get ready to work hard. All schools are hard but when you go to a school still in transition you experiene other stressor too. Hope this helps. Good luck and God bless.

Yes, that is true. They are up for accreditation in October. As, a recent grad you should look into more than one school. And also note this program is not one year.

I think it is quiet because those who are in the program are so busy studying they dont have time to post and those who moved on are trying to find a new program to apply to. Alot of schools are closing down in Philly, the amount of student wanting to be nurses outnumber the number of programs available. It is getting harder people. Good Luck To All. St. Joe's has 59 students attending this year. So, they did start in Jan.

More than half of my friends are RN and they all have a jobs. Diploma to Assoc. Degrees. None of them have their BSN and only a few want to get it. They need nurses. Nursing is the only field right now that is still trying to hire and is not firing anyone. People are sick regardless of the enomony. Not sure what type of nursing jobs the RN's you spoke to are looking for but they must not be looking everywhere. They may have to work outside they living area. Keep trying to reach for your dream. Good luck in whatever program you attend.

They do have a low NCLEX rate but again the school has only be in session two years. I was also told that the students in the first class had a hard time passing the NET test so pasting the NCLEX would be a problem. They low the admission rate on the test to start the first class and to start the school. Trying to give people a chance. The website is http://www.sjhson.org/ I was looking at it today. Since one of the members was talking about a letter posted on it. I wanted to see what it was about. They are not Accredited but no school can get accreditted until it has been in session more than three years and NClEX pass rate in above 65%. Best of luck to you and good luck finding a school. I know this is a challenge for us all.

Yes your education is worth it and you must be a wise consumer. Frankford is a good program. I interviewed with them about 3 years ago. The staff member that interviewed me was negative about single mothers and working in the program. She told me I would have to give up my whole life for the time I was in the program and if I had I boyfriend I would never see him and that may take from my focus. I kind of turned me off and I decided on another school. So keep looking and if it doesn't feel right to you than move on.

I think people are really looking at this whole program in a very negative way. I think is great that 20 passed and 12 passed the NCLEX. Good for them. They are RN's and working. That is the Goal. They only have two classes. Second, if you are waiting for a school to call you back as an source of their worth you are looking at the wrong area. None of the schools call back right away. They are receiving hundreds of calls and application a day. They don't have time to call each people back by the end of the day. Abington School states on their voicemail to not leave a msg if you already left one. They will contact you as soon as possible. My friend in Montco stated to me yeasterday that she doesn't know who her teacher will be in the spring due to it will be a new instructor. The instructor in the fall was new and now she is gone. Teacher come and go. New teacher don't make that much money. The ones that stay love teaching and do it for that reason.

Also keep in mind..the school is the tool, the nurse is the person. Pretty much all the friends are nurses. In different areas and different levels. Some are RN's some have their BSN and MSN. I love them all and they went to very, very good schools and unverisities. A couple of them I would not let care for my dog. I really love my dog. They were book smart, great test taker, got through clinicals, but care more about the money and their grades than the patients. Doing well in school is great and going to a good school is awesome but don't confuse the education with the person in the uniform. I know LPN's with more knowledge than some nurses. I say focus on YOUR studies whereever You are and do YOUR best to be a great NURSE.:redbeathe:heartbeat

I think it was wonderful of you to offer YOUR help. You didn't have to. That tells me you are the type of nurse that I want to have working next to me. One that is willing to help whenever possible. I will be calling on you for help. Thank you again.

I know several people who are starting the program in Jan. Two where in prev. nursing schools and one just starting her nursing education. I believe the program has it's problems but to be honest all nursing schools have issues. Montco changed there test pass rate a couple of years ago and students that were in the program wrote letters to be grandfather under prev. score, they refused a hand full of students fail. Most of color or other origin) Abington Hospital school is a great program but check out there class photo and acceptance rate for people of color. You may see one per class. My best friend went to Northeastern a very smart women in school failed the Nclex twice and she hated the school the whole time she was there. I believe any student at any school will hate part or all of it and we all have our own experiences. I believe things happen when you make them happen. You have to have faith in the Person. The school I went to had great teachers but you were tutored by other nursing students in the upper levels in a lab not by the instructors. They had other classes, families, and some were still working. Teachers don't get paid that much. The school is two years old not seasoned. Think about your two year child or the beginning of anything you tried. Anything takes time to succeed or fail. Nothing is great in the beginning. I believe give the school time and let it take it course. People seem bitter due to their experiences it is sad but time will tell the school future.

I agree with you. I too was in nursing school before and you are right you have to do a lot of work yourself. The ones that don't reach beyond the insturctor or lectures don't learn as much. We all learn different and an instructor can't reach all. YOU must ensure you are successful. Bill Deane told me most of the information too and I knew a couple of students so I knew from other students too. Bottomline is you most do what you need to do to get that RN license. It is to hard out here to get into an school. Nursing is HARD. You are caring for a life. Make your decision based on what is right for you and pray.

I total agree. Everybody stay encouraged no matter what program you go into. Remember all programs have good and bad issues. You must work hard and pray for the best.
