  7. Phoenix Arizona Advice

I worked at JCL NM in 2007 at 2008 on their progressive tele floor and I loved it. Very good teamwork and MDs were OK. It was a great unit and I loved the hospital. It is a level 1 trauma center....
  8. I agree with all the responses and I have to say this. The manager that called you in to the office to reprimand you for not checking a blood sugar is an absolute idiot and should not be a manager....

  10. Albumin and DKA

Next time you take care of patients, look at the albumin levels of your patients. I bet more than half will be lower than normal. The sicker they are, often the lower the albumin.
  11. Chlorhexidine patch on central lines

I'm not aware of people being sensitive to chlorhexidine. I do know that I don't like it much for an open wound!
  12. I don't think about this possibility very often but you're right, it is something that could happen to any of us, at any time. My own policy is if I'm going to to put a Foley in a female pt, I will...
  13. Receiving 13wk contract offer without a phone interview?

Hello all, So I'm doing a short-term travel assignment in a small clinic for eight-weeks until I get another job. This is totally out of my element as I normally do step-down tele. This clinic...
  15. Hello all, I know that contacting a manager beforehand of a unit at a hospital you're being submitted to is a big no-no but I'm wondering if it would be OK in the following case: I had a GREAT...

  18. ETOH withdrawal, CIWA, and transfer to the ICU.

Poppycat, I see you have a lot of experience in nursing . As if you're scanning member posts to see where you can call the poster on their misdeeds. As stated, she was charting on the patient...
  19. DVTs and PEs

Usually the ones with DVTs that are able to walk around have been on anticoagulants (heparin/warfarin) for a little while and it is determined to be "safe" for them to walk
  20. Working on specialized stepdown unit

  21. Brian Short News

I am in shock just as all of you are. I can't believe it. What a horrible thing to happen to someone who revolutionized contemporary nursing. This site has facilitated nurse-to-nurse communication...

  23. understanding pneumothorax

Hello all, I'm having trouble understanding specific points of pathophysiology regarding pneumothoraces. I understand why tension pneumos are so deadly, but I have a couple questions. When you...
  24. Hey all, OK I know that Ebola is spread by bodily fluids, so effectively it should be contact precautions. If this is so, why all the extensive PPE recommendations and N95 masks etc. It just...
