Hi all!
OK so I've received an offer for employment (contract employment initiall) at the VA in San Diego. My first question is: It seems everyone in healthcare considers it awesome to get a gig at the VA. They make it seem so wonderful. I am starting out contract long-term so I won't get the direct VA benefits which I'm sure are wonderful. What makes the VA so great?
Also for those specifically that work or know about the San Diego VA, how are there tele/med/surg floors? Do they have CNAs? Do CNAs take vitals? How is day shift compared to night shift?
Thanks all!

3 things:
5 years vested for a pension.
All Federal holdays, time and a half if you work.
Pay decent. Other things too.
Go for this. It's becoming the last of the nursing Mohicans.
People who work at the VA play it close to the vest so it's like breaking into Ft. Knox.
