  1. Hello all! I have been in a clinic setting in specialty areas for 12+ years so I do not know much about hospice nursing. My wife is also a nurse and might have an opportunity for Hospice. Besides assessment skills and nursing judgments, is there a lot of hands on needed such as IV's, catheters, dressing changes, etc? She is a bit hesitant since she hasn't had much of those skills in a few years (we had children which has made her to stay at home for a few years). Any advice would be great. Thanks!
  2. It works! I got the "old" good pop up and saw my name on the BRN website 3 days later and got my license in the mail the same day! :w00t:
  3. It worked for me with the "old" good pop up!!! It was ready when I got home from the test. Also, 3 days after I took it, I saw my name on the CA BRN website! The weird thing is, I got my actual license in the mail the day I saw my name on the board website but didn't get my "official" results in the mail yet. But the actual license on hand is good enough for me!
  4. I passed mine :w00t:! I took it on Dec. 20th and got the "old" good pop up so I wasn't sure. Then I saw my name on the CA BRN website about 3 days later. The funny thing is, I got my license in the mail 3 days later (same day I saw my name on the boards) but didn't receive my "official results" in the mail yet. weird?
  5. Cool thanks for the advice. Did you think the Lippincott questions were similar, harder, or easier on the Nclex? I've heard Kaplan's questions seem to be a little bit more difficult than the Nclex.
  6. I will be taking it October 15th. Good luck to all of you! Dear God, Please give us all the strength to do our best in the Nclex and to succeed. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to try to take our lives to the next level. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
  7. did any of you like the Lippincott Q&A book? I'm using it right now and find it a bit more difficult. I'm worried about my scores which are in the low 60's.
  8. NIce! Congrats! How did you feel about the Lippincott Q&A book? I bought it a few weeks ago. They seemed a little bit more difficult, which I kind of like so it could get me thinking more. I had the Kaplan books too and I thought Lippincotts questions were a little harder. Did you do all the tests in the Lippincott or just the comprehensive. Also, how were your scores? Mine were in the low 60's which is kind of discouraging.
  9. I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, I'm still new to this forum. Anyways, I'm trying to get my RN done. My situation is that I have been working as an LVN for about 1 1/2 years and did my LVN program at a private LVN school. So therefore, I don't have any pre-reqs done at a community college or other college. Is there anyway I can get into a program without having pre-reqs? Right now, I'm back in community college trying to get pre-reqs done but it's such a hassle. If there's no way, does anyone know where I can take Anatomy & Physiology online? Or maybe LVN to RN program in other states? My problem is that in order to take A and P, I have to take Bio, Chem, etc. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks!
  10. Does anyone here work at a Methdone clinic? If so, how do you like it? What is a normal day like? I got an interview for a Methadone clinic and I don't know what to expect. If anyone could shed some light that would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
  11. how much do psyche nurse's get paid?
  12. Hi everyone, I am a new grad (LVN) and I just started working in a nursing home. Since I'm a new grad, I am sooo overwelmed. I 'm trying to soak up everything I being thrown at me. MY plan is to work Med/Surg but I need to get any kind of experience first, that's why I'm working in a nursing home just to gain experieince in something. I don't know anywhere around me who is willing to take a new grad for med surg. Anyways, the 22+ ratio is kind of stressful and I'm just wondering how you Psych nurses like working and doing what you do. I've been thinking about it. Can any of you shed some information on being a psych nurse? Duties, pay, feelings about it, ..... Anything will help me out. Thanks!
  13. thanks everyone!!! don't worry flkatiern, just have faith!
  14. ^Thanks guys! As for studying, I studied the Saunders CD too. I Broke it down to a couple questions everyday. I also switched up the content areas like every 50 just to change things up. That way if I didn't finish everything I got to hit some different areas. On my test, I had alot of priority questions. For example, it gave me 4 different patients and asked which one I would attend to first. I also had a couple of religion questions. I didn't expect those so I'd probably glance at the religious beliefs for a section. I didn't have that many questions of medications. Maybe one or two. My friend's test was mostly "choose all that apply". Just read the Saunders's first or second chapter on test taking skills. It helped me alot. I reviewed the CD alot and it helped me out. GOOD LUCK!!! I wish you all the best of luck!
  15. I finally got my results today and I found out I passed!!! When I took it I had 205 questions. After 2 and a half weeks of waiting it finally came today. I'm so relieved. I thought I failed at first but through prayer I passed! :balloons: For those who didn't take it or have to take it again DON'T STRESS. I stressed the first time and I failed. The second time I slept early the night before, I didn't study the whole day before, and I had a big breakfast. Just RELAX!
