  1. Who knew that a med tech = MD

:yeahthat: Good attitude. Keep up the great work and ignore the med tech. I'm sure he/she is just very proud of passing the course. It is a bad situation though when someone thinks they are above learning something everyday. K
  2. Online Nutrition Classes

I took mine online. It was tough, but not that hard. We had internet streams of the "classroom" lectures each week. University of Southern Indiana http://www.usi.edu K
  3. Anyone out there Vanderbilt?

I would have to take out loans as well. Did Vandy's fin aid dept help you get all of it ready? I've been reading about the "alternative" loans, other than the 10,500-18,500 available through stafford but I still have trouble figuring it all out. I...
  4. I didn't get all this education to wipe behinds!

I think working as a PCA will make me a better nurse someday. I can guarantee I won't be one of those nurses that chase down someone to remove a bedpan. As far as technical jobs as a PCA I do the following: start and d/c foleys, d/c IVs, simple ster...
  5. The look!!!

ROFL!! Only in the male nurse forum. Funny. I have a BS in Business Management and start my accelerated BSN program next month. I might go that route too after a while, but for now I'm more interested in patient care. I'm looking into FNP, PA, o...
  6. NP's having to get a PhD

Yeah, not a PhD.. a clinical doctorate. Funny though, I don't think they've even decided on a name for it yet. Doctor of Nursing Practice, Clinical Nurse Doctorate?? WHAT? lol I personally don't have the same reservations as some. I think it co...
  7. Anyone out there Vanderbilt?

I personally would LOVE to go to the vandy MSN bridge program. How the HECK do you come up with $30k/year to attend. If I could figure that out, I'd be applying instead of typing this. K
  8. I want to become a CRNA

My hospital accepts new RNs directly into ICU, but most of the RNs I've talked to that did this said they were scared @#$%less. I'm hoping I'll get lucky and have some great experienced ICU nurses to mentor me. :-) K

  10. FNP in the ER?

Hi, I'm an undergrad student right now, but I'm interested in advanced practice. The two areas that interest me most are the Family Practice setting and the ER. I know the two are as different as night and day, but in my rural area, it's quite norm...

  13. Waiting Lists

I live in KY but go to school in IN. At the school I'm at neither the regular BSN nor the accel-BSN have waiting lists. It's all dependent on your prereqs, interviews, etc. From what I've heard, the KY the community colleges in the area have at lea...

  15. Part-time healthcare work during school - options?

I work as a tech and I get benefits for working at least 40 hours in a two week pay period. The training was given at the hospital and during training I was paid just as if I was working on the floor. The hospital knew that many techs were students...

  17. What do/did you wear for your clinicals???

Our school dictates ours... white pants, polo shirt with school logo on the chest, and a white lab coat with school logo on it also. I actually think it looks pretty good. K
  18. Lab Coat

Mine was offered through the nursing dept. because we had to get a lab coat and polos that were embroidered with the school logo. They also sold them at the bookstore at my school. K
  19. Personality Test for Specialty

It's a cool test but I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'd say if you're going somewhere that doesn't "match" your personality it just means that you may feel uncomfortable at first. But people change and adjust to their environment. If you aren...
