  2. chemical dependency/addictions nursing

I am not a recovering addict, just a nurse interested in field. I like the idea of giving support and tools for people struggling with addictions. I do have a brother who is an alcoholic.
  3. OB explanation??

I am thinking of leaving med/telemetry after 6 months and go to OB. I was wondering though, I like postpartum and infant care (or couplet care) but not so much labor and delivery. If I take a job on a floor that has a LDRP unit must I do the labor/de...

Every facility I have worked at in 18 years charts how may side rails are up (usually two) even the ones with computer charting had a slot to check for it. Must be a state thing??? Or old habits die hard!!
  8. Took Nclex today

They were similair to the Saunders Nclex review questions on the cd. Especially the priority and delegation questions.
  9. Took Nclex today

I found out right after midnight last night while at work. Looked it up on the state board site under license status check. I PASSED!! I studied by practicing with the Saunders cd-rom practice test. I did at least 50 questions a day for about two we...
  10. Charting do's and don'ts

After 18 rears as a LPN I had to relearn charting protocol when I went to RN school. I still wanted to write "Appears to be sleeping" now a no-no. Also I was told not to chart "found on the floor" but to write "patient noted lying on floor" some how ...
  11. Took Nclex today

Thanks for all the well wishes. I came home and told my family the exact same thing Scrubz said. I did really really WELL or really really BAD! I'm a little worried Glen 'cause I didn't find it very hard. Compared to our school exams anyway. ( and b...

Thanks so much for the reply. I have heard some good things about Jeff Anderson. I would love it if your sis could pass on some more insight. I appreciate this info. I would love working the ER but not sure I could hold up.( I'm 43). Well as far as a...

No one has any reply??? Surely someone that works at these hospitals reads this board!! Would really appreciate it!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR
  14. Levels of ER's?

What does it mean when a facility says we are a level one ER or level 2, 3 etc. The ER where I plan to work is a level 3. ????
  15. I love rural nursing. I am a small town girl and love small hospitals. I feel like I have learned more working in small hospitals because you do a little of everything. I have been an LPN for 18 years and will finish RN school in December. I would lo...
  16. treatment of students-venting

How are you treated at clinicals by staff? I find the nurses treat us well while the unit clerks and some of the unlicensed assistive personal treat us like crap. What's up with that? Are they jealous because we are making something of ourselves and ...
  17. treatment of students-venting

Thanks for all the great responses. I have calmed down now and realize that some people are just rude and mean and it has little to do with their job title or salary. I just take solace in the fact that what goes around comes around. Just FYI that ru...
  18. what constitutes travel?

How far away from your home does an assignment have to be, to be considered "travel?" I know there is a great need in an area about 60 miles away from me as well as another city that is about 100 miles away. I would love to work at these hospitals bu...
  19. What specialty of Nursing is most needed in Travel nursing

I see a TON of Labor and Delivery ads with travel companies.
  20. I'm new and curious?

are there many travel jobs for post partum? I don't want labor/delivery or mother baby units(because I don't want the labor/delivery part)
  21. Why are RN's not drawn to HH? Only LPN's?

I felt uncomfortable with the risk involved.I experienced bad neighborhoods, relatives "living" with the elderly or disabled patient, who wanted free meds or nursing care, ie, "While your here take my blood pressure",(blood sugar, look at this spot o...
