Is there anyone who's hospital does waterlabor or waterbirth pretty commonly? In CA this is rare at best. In talking to other nurses they tell me that back east it's much more accepted/routine. I've been asked to write an article on water in labor a...
I live in Southern California, LA county,. I am considering starting an LVN program. I REALLY want to work with moms, I am a doula and CBE. Ideally L&D but i'd take Post partum too. I am on a time crunch as we only have medical insurance for ab...
I'm a doula and I recently had my first experience with a dr that came into the room, saw me there and proceeded to rip my client a new one, in their native language (picture me being clueless here) "I don't allow doulas..." they played dumb and I ...
I tried to get the mom to file a complaint. I thought after some time went by she would. She is quite clear on what happened, but didn't. I did write it up from my point of view and I still have it. I'm not sure where to send it. I'm very tempted t...

I'm no expert on PKU, but I've been told the CA state now uses tandem mass spectometry & aparently the test timing using this method is not as sensitive as it was when they used the previous method (Guthries assay) but it is more accurate and ...
your grades in your prereqs? or your whole overall GPA? Honestly that scares me. I've got A's in my prereqs and am just starting an LVN program. my GPA overall isn't a 3.0 (misspent youth, friggin hard major) Am I shooting myself in the foot doint LV...
I did, & then for good measure Dr Ogre stuck in a 10" hemostat with guaze and swept it around her uterus "to make sure he got everything". Barbaric is right! Could a nurse do something (report the ob?) in a case like that?

I've had some psycho professors lately. Everyone is complaining, some to the adminstration, dean, dept.heads, lab instructors etc and It's WORKING. things are getting better, teachers were not asked back for this semester, and they even made us an ex...

I thought i'd be safe and take one at a time, as it turns out i think i could've done Anat and phys (seperate classes) at the same time. Now i have to take Micro in 5 wks in the summer. :uhoh21:ewww. there is a girl in my phsyio class that's taking ...
Personal experience is great, but is there any research on the accuracy of AFI/? It seems (i could be wrong) that this is one thing that has come into use without much study...

I'd look at the ROP regional occupational programs LVN programs before I shelled out that sort of cash for a private school. dont; get discouraged, jsut start your prereqs. inch by inch it'll be a cinch besides you're young. I'm 36! yikes.
lol. i remember laying in the tub, belly sticking out, with water in my belly button (what was left of it). I could see my pulse shaking the puddle with every beat LOL. I thought it was funny/weird, never thought of it being dangerous!
can i ask a releated question? How accurate is an AFI? does it have any predictive value in terms of baby outcome? I'm seeing many many inductions due to low fluid, I know it's supposed to be a sign of placenta deteriorating but how accurate is it???
Just because the Waterbirth International tubs are called birth tubs doesn't mean you can't just labor in them and then get out. I don't see the problem ??? The spa in a box sounds like exactly what you are looking for. I'd call Barbara Harper at WI...

what source did you find that in? I've never heard that. AFAIK, Pullsatilla is a changer of changeable things used mostly for breech, posterior. so in that sense it changes whatever is moveable to the opposite state. To dry up milk flow i've more o...

Hmmm... I've been thinking about this for a while now. It is encouraging informed consent I think. and putting that responsibility squarely in the doctors lap where it belongs. When the doula goes to do the postpartum visit at moms house the last th...

Yup, I know, I think it makes things very confusing, that's why I'm a fan of the different terms. But people are just now getting what a doula is... I'm an ALACE CCE too :) They now make people sign a form saying that the one VE experience is for l...

This may sound geeky but as a doula/nursing student that's trying to make myself employable when i get done, I was thinking of taking a fetal monitoring class. I see the advanced ones advertised all over the place but not the beginning ones. Where a...
