Thanks for this post. I find myself in the same position, toxic environment all the way. As I was reading through all of the posts, so many of the responses hit home. I feel so much better, knowing that I am not alone. At this time, I am just wai...

Are there any other hospitals you could consider applying to in your area? Don't get discouraged. Change is difficult. The perfect position for you may be an application away.
I was offered a position, where I did my practicum for the last semester of Nursing School. The offer was extended about a month before I took my NCLEX.
Congratulations on passing the NCLEX. Don't give up, keep putting your application in anywhere you are interested in applying. Eventually, you will start getting some responses.
After two miserable days in a unit I normally don't work on, I am attempting to give report. In the middle of my report, the newly hired RN starts asking questions. I snapped back, requesting to finish my report before answering questions. The nur...
I'll chalk it up to having a bad day, since I usually never get upset. As a previous poster stated, most of the questions would have been answered had I been allowed the opportunity to finish.
At the hospital I work at, they have the weekend option available, so we don't have to work weekends normally. I do see some institutions still have the requirement to work every other weekend.
I would report this HIPAA violation immediately to the appropriate authority. We do competencies every year, and knowing the HIPAA rules is a must! Clearly, in the rules, it states you cannot be accessing patient files(relative, neighbor, coworker) ...
I'm sorry to hear about your bad news. This may be a blessing in disguise. What would happen if you had started working there, then all of sudden they told you they are overstaffed and cannot use additional help? That doctors office sounds pretty ...
I would let the interviewer know that you were ready for change, and wished to grasp the HH opportunity before it could pass you by. Facilities are hungry for good nurses, and recognize that previous employers of the interviewees may not have been t...
I would resign from the position since it sounds as though the administration is unsupportive, and all employees are not treated with respect. There are jobs out there that continue to be vacant/vacated due to poor working conditions/poor management...
I would run from that position. The facility sounds like it needs additional staffing. I just left a job in a poorly run facility. There wasn't much team work, and little contact with the patients. The training was sparse, and inconsistent. I d...
At my local community college, they only offerred the LPN courses during the summer. A couple of my classmates got their LPN prior to RN. The RN program was just one more semester than the LPN program. I would go for the RN degree, since there are...

It's never too late to go back to school. A few of my classmates were between 49-65 years old. These ladies have graduated and are now working as RNs.:nuke:
:up:My commute is 45 minutes. After a 12 hr shift, sometimes I feel really tired and not as alert as I should be. The commute tends to wear on me after a while, but know I can always work closer to home. If the opportunity is great, I say take it...
