  1. Thanks for this post. I find myself in the same position, toxic environment all the way. As I was reading through all of the posts, so many of the responses hit home. I feel so much better, knowing that I am not alone. At this time, I am just wai...
  2. Are there any other hospitals you could consider applying to in your area? Don't get discouraged. Change is difficult. The perfect position for you may be an application away.
  3. Jobs: How soon did you find one after graduation??

I was offered a position, where I did my practicum for the last semester of Nursing School. The offer was extended about a month before I took my NCLEX.
  4. I always have an RN waste narcotics with me, since the pyxis requires the other RN's password to complete the process.
  5. Upset

Congratulations on passing the NCLEX. Don't give up, keep putting your application in anywhere you are interested in applying. Eventually, you will start getting some responses.
  6. Present at death

    Thanks for sharing your experience.
  7. Report interruption

After two miserable days in a unit I normally don't work on, I am attempting to give report. In the middle of my report, the newly hired RN starts asking questions. I snapped back, requesting to finish my report before answering questions. The nur...
  8. Co-workers

Don't be discouraged. I found a lot of support through the NCLEX forum here. Wishing you the best of luck.
  9. Report interruption

I'll chalk it up to having a bad day, since I usually never get upset. As a previous poster stated, most of the questions would have been answered had I been allowed the opportunity to finish.
  10. Every other weekend- what century are we in?

At the hospital I work at, they have the weekend option available, so we don't have to work weekends normally. I do see some institutions still have the requirement to work every other weekend.
  11. Finally!!

    Congratulations regarding your new job!
  12. i got a needle stick today need prayer

I will pray for you! So sorry to hear this happened. Glad to took action immediately! Good luckand stay strong.
  13. Co-Workers Read My Medical Files

I would report this HIPAA violation immediately to the appropriate authority. We do competencies every year, and knowing the HIPAA rules is a must! Clearly, in the rules, it states you cannot be accessing patient files(relative, neighbor, coworker) ...
  14. Was I in the wrong here?

You werent in the wrong, but I would have let the RN know about the order and handle the situation from there.
  15. Question

I'm sorry to hear about your bad news. This may be a blessing in disguise. What would happen if you had started working there, then all of sudden they told you they are overstaffed and cannot use additional help? That doctors office sounds pretty ...
  16. I would let the interviewer know that you were ready for change, and wished to grasp the HH opportunity before it could pass you by. Facilities are hungry for good nurses, and recognize that previous employers of the interviewees may not have been t...
  17. To quit or not to quit?

I would resign from the position since it sounds as though the administration is unsupportive, and all employees are not treated with respect. There are jobs out there that continue to be vacant/vacated due to poor working conditions/poor management...
  18. I got in!!!

    Congratulations on getting accepted!
  19. I finally passed 6th time

Congratulations on passing the NCLEX and becoming an official RN!
  20. I don't think I can handle this!

I would run from that position. The facility sounds like it needs additional staffing. I just left a job in a poorly run facility. There wasn't much team work, and little contact with the patients. The training was sparse, and inconsistent. I d...
  21. I Need Your Opinion...both Lpn

At my local community college, they only offerred the LPN courses during the summer. A couple of my classmates got their LPN prior to RN. The RN program was just one more semester than the LPN program. I would go for the RN degree, since there are...
  22. Is It Too Late........?

It's never too late to go back to school. A few of my classmates were between 49-65 years old. These ladies have graduated and are now working as RNs.:nuke:
  23. Verbal orders vs Telephone orders

No verbal orders are to be written at my facility. Telephone orders are acceptable, since the physician is not present on the floor during the night.
  24. Commute?

:up:My commute is 45 minutes. After a 12 hr shift, sometimes I feel really tired and not as alert as I should be. The commute tends to wear on me after a while, but know I can always work closer to home. If the opportunity is great, I say take it...
  25. Job of my dreams!!

You have a great attitude regarding nursing!!! I think you will flourish in the mental health/psychiatry field. Good luck with your pursuit!
