  1. I'm coming up on my ten yr suspension period ending. It was for a felony charge (diversion...controlled substance act...). When it first happened I was (of course) ordered for inpatient rehab 30 days but left early and considered non-compliant with P...
  2. I'm pretty sure preceptor sign up for that, so you'd think they would have the patience. My preceptor was a jerk, and many share that sentiment so I wouldn't worry about that too much. All that anxiety and shyness will melt away before you know it. D...
  3. Taking ADHD meds

You are correct! That is so wrong of her, and shows her lack of knowledge. She should take some continuing education credits on things she doesn't understand or it could cost her a job.
  4. PNAP no legal charges

When I did it, it was the same in PA. I was told the phmp was for MDs. They don't tell you much of anything about it until you sign into it. A quick online search of PAs program tells you more about it , from a lawyers perspective. Things have change...
  5. PNAP no legal charges

    I wasn't replying to you.
  6. PNAP no legal charges

There's that stigma and misinformation. Not everyone is the same. It's not a legal "loophole" and it shouldn't be a battle. It's not a crutch and it doesn't cause impairment. If you don't know because you don't have that experience then I don't think...
  7. PNAP no legal charges

Read about Illinois monitoring program and how they now must allow those in the program to continue to take their medications. It's a violation of the ADA not to. I'm not defensive about it, just feel strongly about it.
  8. PNAP no legal charges

Ask PNAP is they allow nurses to take maintenance medication, such as buprenorphine, when it is prescribed by your doctor, and still participate fully without having to quit taking it.
  9. Phasing Out ADN?

I totally agree. When I started nursing school I had to be educated and trained to think "like a nurse". Until then, it would be very hard to pass the tests given in nursing school. I went into the program with common sense and "common" knowledg...
  10. That is a good point. At what level of negligence and harm are we willing to draw the line?
  11. Pre-employment drug screen suboxone

Things have changed a lot I n the past few years in regards to OUD and meds. They know more about the med and what it does, or doesn't do. They now claim it is fine for long term. It's time that it's accepted across the board. I can't see how 1/2 sta...
  12. Oig exclusion list

Funny you say that....I just found out I was reinstated and they told me they mailed me the letter. I never got it either. LOL hmmm.... I didn't get one in mail either!!
  13. Call to action! Nurses in Monitoring Programs

I think what's done is done, in my case. It was 10 yrs ago. I'm still dealing with the damages. I had a lawyer at this point, who called me and said, they are pressing charges and you can turn yourself in, without them coming to arrest you. He said, ...
  14. PNAP no legal charges

I agree with you Bad dog. It seems the punishment doesn't fit the crime. I would hope they take everything into consideration. You don't have to agree to the program, if you don't have a problem. Defend your license as best as you can!!
  15. Call to action! Nurses in Monitoring Programs

When I had my trial, I was not appointed a public defender. They met without me even there, actually. They had me wait inside the court house and then came to me and said, "This is what we are offering you. You can either except it or take it to the ...
  16. PNAP no legal charges

Exposed and revamped! To at least comply with the laws for those with a disability. At the least!!
  17. Call to action! Nurses in Monitoring Programs

There isn't anything a lawyer can do about the administrative part of it. They'll still charge you out of pocket, but all they can truly do is sit with you while you have an initial assessment by the board rep. BON trumps a lawyer for every time I've...
  18. ADHD Nurses-what area do you specialize in?

If you made it to graduate nurse and then pass the NCLEX, I believe you can excell anywhere you'd like in nursing. Best wishes ❤️
  19. Can a nurse have seizures?

I am curious about this. I would hope so and I would think it would be illegal to not hire someone because of epilepsy, or seizure disorder. Perhaps personally, one should think about how often or how controlled their seizures are with medicati...
  20. Taking ADHD meds

Big Ole NO. You don't have to tell them and you should not. If you were taking it out of the machine there would be discrepancies, and or documentation errors....of which would be on your fingertip. Don't take your meds in front of your co workers......
  21. Heparin gtt with compatible IV med

Wouldn't the Maintenance be off while the heparin is running? Wouldn't the heparin be running for a long time, and need to be titrated? In my opinion, I wouldn't run heparin as a piggyback. It is compatible, but they wouldn't be getting their f...
  22. Phasing Out ADN?

Ahhh yes, in pediatrics. Yikes 😉
  23. Oxycodone Mistake

Was he ordered that ATC at like 8a and 8p since it's extended release, and also ordered a PRN for IR secondary to breakthrough pain? Didn't know they had 5mg oxy in ER. But anyway, even if it were ER, seems like the time given apart wasn't very...
  24. Oxycodone Mistake

It was extended release though. Which makes me wonder why he isn't ordered a PRN for breakthrough pain. But that's another thing.
  25. Heparin drip disaster

I'd also like to add that travel nurses are not "new hires" they are nurses who pick up contracts with staffing agencies. The hospital works with the agency because they are understaffed and the agency sends out a nurse to fill that void. Travel rns ...
