  1. I’m a new grad from MA. I’m honestly just tired of the cold and I need a change once I graduate this May. I’m planning a move to the Miami or Boca area, but to be honest I’m very uncertain. Literally every single nurse I talk to has told me to avoid Florida at all costs, claiming it’s a nightmare as far as nursing goes. However, I can’t seem to find many people who have actually been/are nurses in Florida so I’m super uncertain. Any advice at all is appreciated, and if you’re willing to chat with me directly that would be such a huge help!! If not I’m really looking for the following: 1. Best hospitals to work at in your opinion 2. Any hospitals to avoid at all costs 3. Any specialities you recommend or avoid? 4. Do you feel like your license is in jeopardy on a regular basis? (Asking this one because I’ve been told I’ll lose my license if I go to Florida due to staffing/lack of recourses) 5. I only know very basic Spanish, are there areas or hospitals you would recommend that are better for individuals who don’t speak as much Spanish?
  2. Hi!! Congrats! To be completely honest with you this is a difficult question to answer. Theres a lot of factors to consider, like what kind of learner you are, what semester youre in, and how much effort you put in. I know there’s people in my cohort who probably do put in 50 hours a week but I would not say the average is 50 hours…I studied for about 50 hours during finals week but that was absolutely the max I’ve personally studied in a week. That being said, first semester is definitely the hardest and requires the most studying but you also don’t have clinicals. First semester I probably averaged about 20-30 hours per week outside of class depending on how many tests I had that week and then second semester with clinicals I probably averaged about 15-20 hours a week. This semester I’ll be honest I probably study outside of class and clinicals about 10-15 hours because it’s an easier semester than the last two. This is me personally. If you’re someone who reads every textbook and studies every single PowerPoint slide you may be looking at about 50 hours a week but you have to find your own method to study which takes a bit. Hope this helps!
  3. Hi huge congrats!! I started last Spring so I’m a little more than halfway through at this point. Overall my opinion of the program is positive. It has been unorganized at times but I think part of that has to do with the pandemic, regardless you are sort of just expected to go with the flow and that is what it is. Education wise I think I learned more in my first semester than I ever learned in my undergrad combined and other than a couple of professors I have found them all to be knowledgeable and passionate about the topics. I was personally torn between the UMass Boston program and Curry and I can now say I made the right choice. My Clinical's have been at some of the top hospitals in Boston, and I was able to network through them to get a PCA job at one of them this semester when I otherwise probably wouldn’t have been able to get one there. Additionally I have heard several times from nurses on the floor that Curry nursing students are some of the best during clinical which was a pleasant surprise for me. To be completely blunt, I wouldn’t go with any of the other accelerated programs in the Boston area unless you get a hefty scholarship or you go to UMass Boston (because it is the cheapest one) simply because the other programs are a lot more expensive and there’s really no reason to spend the extra money on a program like this if you can avoid it. Best of luck wherever you end up, going back for nursing was the best decision I’ve ever made even though it’s difficult it’s very doable if you’re determined.
  4. @Ranjo31880 thank you!! This was super helpful. Wishing you the best of luck :)
  5. @Ranjo31880 That’s right! I don’t know why I thought you started last fall sorry for the blank!! Regardless thank you for this information it was very insightful. Are the bundles for each semester? And if so what was the price for them? I’m trying to get a good estimate of pricing. I’m sorry they’re so behind that’s very frustrating and also very good to know so I plan in advance, are your classes in person or online? Thank you again your insight is appreciated!
  6. Hi all, I know this is an older thread, but I was hoping to get some insight from current students that ended up pursuing the Curry ACCEL program. I was just admitted for Spring 2021 and I am thrilled, but I was hoping to get some perspective on how the program has been from an honest first-hand perspective and also make some connections that may be looking to sell books etc.

  8. @Michie88 I don't see it, could you post the link maybe?? Never mind, I found it!
  9. @Michie88 yes I would join one.
  10. No I don’t see anything on my portal! I’m hopeful for you ?
  11. Thank you!! I am hoping for you as well!! I had about a 3.4 undergrad GPA and a 3.9 GPA in my prereqs.
  12. @Nina_2020 no news is good news! I wouldn’t assume until you hear from them. It was a direct email that looks like it was manually sent out so maybe they’re going to finish sending them out tomorrow!!
  13. That's great, good for you!! I have heard great things about Northeastern and it's definitely in a fun area, I know less about the MGH program but I do remember seeing good things.
  14. Congratulations!! I was also accepted today, I was not expecting an email so it was a nice surprise. Where else are you looking?
  15. Did anyone else hear today? A few reasons but the main are: location, price, and program structure. They also have a high NCLEX pass rate and a good reputation in nursing. I also applied to UMass Boston, also based on price some of the Boston schools are 80K plus which is too much for me personally.
