  1. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

I did provide a link and it’s being moderated. It’s from the la times in 2018 that references a study about doctors. 8 percent of women preferred a male obgyn. 41 percent had no preference. This means a little over half had a preference and that pref...
  2. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

In 2018 the la times cited a study that said 8 percent of women Prefer male OBGYNs. 41 percent had no preference: this means that 51 percent of respondents in this study wanted women. This is for doctors not nurses. I can only imagine the percentage ...
  3. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

I did reply with a link but it’s being moderated for some reason.
  4. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

This isn’t a study but it pretty much sums up what I’ve been saying and actually quotes some numbers. It says only 8 percent of women prefer men and 40ish percent half no preference. That means half prefer women. Half is not insignificant Again I did...
  5. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

Why so aggressive? I’m telling you the lopsided obgyn female to male ratio in recent years is proof that there is indeed a strong preference for women. You keep ignoring this. That’s pretty clear data. If there was a huge demand for male obgyns there...
  6. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

Why are you so reluctant to believe that most women, if given the choice, prefer a female labor nurse? Competence is assumed, so the argument that they want a “good” nurse regardless of sex is irrelevant. This is a uniquely female process - most labo...
  7. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

There is a reason that OBGYNs entering the field are overwhelmingly women. I think it probably does have something to do with patient demand. I just said I don’t speak for all women. But I’m giving my own perspective having been the patient.
  8. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

I definitely would have cared. I can’t speak for everyone but I honestly am confused how some people here are acting like that’s ridiculous. I don’t want a male provider or nurse involved in my pregnancy and birth. I sought out a female OB and would ...
  9. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

Except that’s not at all what I just said in my scenario. I said if asked if they do have a preference, those that do have a preference I guarantee want a woman.
  10. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

I totally respect your perspective as a male labor nurse, and I’m sure you are great at your job and have your own reasons for being drawn to the field. However, it is an avoidable fact that labor and delivery is the only all women patient population...
  11. "We don't hire male RNs" and other things you should never say to me

But a patient has every right to decline a male to insert his hands into her private areas to do cervical checks. I had a female OB by choice with both my kids, and I hated seeing her male partner on the rare times she couldn’t see me ( the stereotyp...
  12. Cal state Fullerton

I’m a million years away from becoming a CNM. I live in LA and want to go back to school to get my nursing degree (ABSN) and then hopefully become a CNM after I get some quality labor and delivery experience. The only brick and mortar school near me ...
