Unfortunately, our district does not allow us to have stock EpiPens, so parents must provide them for their children. That being said, I work in a high school so most kids self carry, but I do have a...

I do understand that some parents are coming from very far away or sometimes there are circumstances that necessitate me keeping the child in the clinic longer, but I feel like this family was just...

One hour and 15 minutes. Gah!!! And when I provided the parent our policy, he told me he is doing the best he can but he is a working parent. I reminded him that I too am a working parent.
We do not stock for staff, nor does our school district allow it. I have had a few staff members very put out about this policy, but I just shrug my shoulders and smile.

Are these uniforms that have been donated by the parents throughout the year? Just wondering if parents would be upset that we are selling something they donated. Have you run into anything like...
Anyone else spending significant amounts of time trying to get doctors to clarify their orders? I can't understand why they wouldn't include the most basic components of a medication order such as...

That could be the case. I do feel that if the doctor gives them that responsibility, they should be instructed on the required components of a medication order. It creates so much work and risk for...
This is my first year as a School Nurse. I am at a high school, so it can be pretty slow in the clinic. I have on several occasions, had a teacher or staff member stop by for a temp check, BP check,...

Thank you, I really don't feel like I did anything wrong. The resolution of the situation is that if I want to "voluntarily" stand-by while she self-injects, then the liability is on me. I have...

Y'all, I think I am going down with something. Flu like symptoms just hit me hard in the last hour. I have 26 more minutes until I am off work for the day so I am trying to hang on but UGH... I...
This. I was at the hospital all day yesterday with my dad for a shoulder replacement and I found myself feeling a little sad and envious of the nurses. They were eating lunch together, grabbing...
What does everyone have in their Nurse Go Bag? Just had an incident and realized mine is packed more for orthopedic/bleeding issues than anything else. This is my first year as a school nurse and...
Students aren't learning regular charting anymore?! My nursing school was crazy about charting! It drove me bananas as a student, but it has served me well. Charting by exception is ok, but...

So I think I am on the opposite end of the spectrum. If a student is symptomatic (chills, sore throat, body aches, etc..), but afebrile, I am sending them home these days. More often than not, those...
