I’ve been a nurse for 5 years. When I start the program this fall I will have 3.5 years of Cardiac ICU experience at a magnet/teaching hospital in a large metropolitan area. Lots of exposure to very sick patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and mechanical circulatory support devices. My cumulative GPA is 3.6. I’m involved with hospital committees, participated in various types of volunteering (clinics, shelters, donations), and research presentations. CCRN certification.
Honestly, I feel I’m a very typical applicant, but the interview is an opportunity to really shine. My advice is to relax, be confident, and show them you have the conviction it takes to see yourself through this. The interview panel knows you’re going to be nervous and they do their best to make you feel at ease. Unfortunately, I don’t want to say anything specific about the actual interview to keep the application process fair. I will say that out of all my interviews, I enjoyed this one the most and it’s one of the reasons why I chose this program.
I hope this helps.
