U of Detroit Mercy Fall 2019

I’ll have to check out Royal Oak when I visit; There’s always time to eat haha. I’m glad these areas are near clinical sites; that was an important factor in deciding where to live, along with affordability and safety. I’ll defiitely look into the Berkeley. Thanks for the recommendation. I peaked at the proposed DNP curriculum and the current MSN curriculum. During the first semester it seems we’re all taking Gross Anatomy and lab together and that’s about it.

U of Detroit Mercy Fall 2019

I’ll be relocating from Washington this summer. During the orientation in June I’ll also be looking at potential apartments. Some of the neighborhoods I’m considering are Royal Oak, Ferndale, and Madison Heights. What are your thoughts on these areas? Same here, I get excited whenever I receive an email from the director haha. Its nice to hear from someone else in the MSN program. Being from Michigan, do you know anyone else that’s been accepted? Are you doing anything between now and August to prepare? The advice I’ve recieced so far is just to take some personal time off to enjoy myself before the start of the semester and doing OT to save money.

Hi Otter! Congrats on getting accepted! Are you from Michigan or will you be relocating from out of state? I’ll be part of the MSN cohort, what about you?

U of Detroit Mercy Fall 2019

Hi Nemo21, I’ve been a nurse for 5 years. When I start the program this fall I will have 3.5 years of Cardiac ICU experience at a magnet/teaching hospital in a large metropolitan area. Lots of exposure to very sick patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and mechanical circulatory support devices. My cumulative GPA is 3.6. I’m involved with hospital committees, participated in various types of volunteering (clinics, shelters, donations), and research presentations. CCRN certification. Honestly, I feel I’m a very typical applicant, but the interview is an opportunity to really shine. My advice is to relax, be confident, and show them you have the conviction it takes to see yourself through this. The interview panel knows you’re going to be nervous and they do their best to make you feel at ease. Unfortunately, I don’t want to say anything specific about the actual interview to keep the application process fair. I will say that out of all my interviews, I enjoyed this one the most and it’s one of the reasons why I chose this program. I hope this helps.

U of Detroit Mercy Fall 2019

Hi everyone, I'm writing this post in hopes of hearing from those who were accepted to UDM's Fall 2019 cohort. I'm hoping this forum is a place where we can get to know little about one another and possibly discuss anything (including our anxiety and excitement) about our upcoming start in August. Personally, I'm very excited to start this Fall. I've heard nothing but great things about this program. I'll be relocating to Michigan this summer from out of state. So if anyone has any recommendations on which neighborhoods I should look into, I'd really appreciate it.
