Help with Nurs 4325 research please
Hi I’m taking the infamous Nurs 4325 and with the infamous Dr.Dobrowski UTA. I was doing good until I bombed the first RAC with a 60 . I figure there is something the he isn’t showing the class . If anyone took his class and have help on how to approach his tests that would be great .

Well obviously you sound like a normal nurse with common sense . No your not crazy , but this going to sound crazy . This is nursing everywhere . It's unsafe , under-trained, understaffed , and they stab you in the back so bad even judas would be like “sweet jesus” Just quit and learn something from it . you be glad u did and your not alone .We have all been there they are using u .

What in gods name is this nonsense . Ive worked with nurses I have hated and dont trust . But at the end of the day its about the pt. I ensured that we both did nothing but the best as the pt advocate. then start to hate them once I clock out . By law under the nurse practice act in texas . it states we must work together regardless of person blah blah blah . Plus only her preceptor should be instructing her . Tbh you have case for bulling and need to sue tbh . read your rights Arrogant people have a right to a job and a dream too . All this trust bs . I fought for a doc that was being bullied becuase he had a lambo and a degree from oxford and was a tad bit upidty , but he was good and he deserved to be upidty, he accomplished more than any doctor there and nurse .No nurse trusts another nurse 100% and shouldnt . I bet I can prove my point give a med that some else pulled ..... thought so .

yeah he was wrong to throw woman under the bus . The gender thing isnt an issue . I think its more of psychological issue with nursing . We dont communicate well and have different expectations of each other . and some people just dont take their lexapro lol ? but no its a psych ward out there

Only seen it once in cath lab during a code stemi . understandable due to mothers are huge part of the staff . but yeah no . A once in 20 years thing not a once aweek thing .

Naw I think you did what any person with your experience would do . I mean ask yourself was it my PT ? No Why was my more experienced preceptor gone when all this happened ? this is part of my training ? SMH ?♂️ just take it with a grain of salt . Some ER nurses are special birds for sure . take as a learning experience for your pts . Put yeah not your fault it was your tele tech / charge nurse / that pts nurse job . Stop being hard on yourself . Do me a favor after working there for a year and a half switch jobs youll thank me . life gets better. man

lm Gonna say it now becareful ED is like being in that one movie GET OUT ! People tend to be psychopaths and always have crazy agendas . There are some great ED nurses but the ratio from bad to good is high . And its all about politics . Its a ? show . I once didnt get a job becuase my nurse preceptor precepted my manager and made her feel inadequate she told me this in an interview and Im sure I didnt get the job for it lol . I have won not one but two lawsuits for unrightfull treatment in the ER and about to get one for blackballing in texas . I always get along but I see my peers bully alot of people . My line is unlawful care . I will blow up a bridge if I am putting someone at risk . I will call who ever I need . I saved 2 lives and got 2 lawsuits for the wrongfull termination of doing so . ED is not a stable place right now . Take it as a lesson to beware of people in ED and beware of the law . Plus its your preceptors fault why are other people teaching you where is his butt at ?

Beaware their are some shady characters . Im a male so a high five or a popcicle is all I give lol . Yeah I would just get another job and BE aware people are nuts and will make all accusations to not PAY cheapskates . I remember I had a pt that needed emergency surgery with no insurance that didnt want a bill leave becuase she said I said something about not waking up from anesthesia . It wasnt even me it was the Anethesiologist lol . I told them it wasnt me I didnt have a hat and You and him signed the consent so ? lol

Very much true . And my millennial colleagues lack the leadership to see when they are being used and manipulated. Time and time I see them get shmoozed it to doing illegal practices and GO WITH IT . Shocking . I have always learned to listen to my tenure nurses they been there longer and can tell me what rights nurses have lost over time at a job at that hospital . The way I think hospitals see us is that we are playing their game on their board . We have to do whats best for them not the pt. Thats my number one problem .

believe me I worked at the number one ranked hospital in texas and then to the number two ranked hospital . I saw worse problems job wise not pt wise at both than at level 3 trauma hospitals I use to work at . Then when I found out that ranking only pertains to what specialized services are available in that system and not ranked on healthcare ratings or pt satisfaction I learned that the rankings are just fake rating to get more pts to come to them . I have worked enough and have everything I want . I dont have kids So I dont have starving mouths to feed , and Im not hungry so lol. My heart goes out to the mothers locked in to bad hospitals due to their children and hospitals know this . Im taking my time when picking a job and Im educating myself on how to interview to get better jobs. I even learned how to bring up the fact that a hospital is setting their expectations to high on a job causing it to be vacant too long and have high turn over . I have had a few call me back and tell me I was right and that if I wanted the job . I declined becuase I also found out that they dont care about the pts just by my questions I asked so . I guess you do need to learn how to interview

What's something you never expected as a male nurse?
To have female colleagues think that Im one of them . In terms of joining their mean girl clique or the clique attempting to mean girl me . I always keep it professional and hold them to professionalism . Coming from a family that contains lawyers , a politician, and a judge I better follow the law . I always like the look on the female bullies face once I treaten them and the hospital with a lawsuit and my only witness being the pt . lol God why are nurses mean to each other . I feel that when U have problems with the male nurses or doctors I feel if you talk to them with confidence and ask what their issues are that usually comes to terms . A come to jesus meeting as we put ot in the south .

Yes unfortunately I havent been in the game that long either going on 8 yrs . As I talk to nurses that nursed from 15-30 + yrs ago hospitals just keeps adding more work to the nurses . It puts a strain on things . At job interviews I learned to trim the fat . I find that Hospitals are less educated , they are less safe , management has less and less experience . The job turn over is very High . My last manager has changed jobs 3 times while I have been employed at 1 in only 1 yr. I check in on my old jobs nobody is there everyone is new . This what happens when corporations take over . they just care about the money and not the product . Thats the problem .

Yeah I wouldn’t worry if you have Rxs for the meds . THC is no biggy shouldnt show up if its occational . But yeah all seems kinda of shady situation . Tbh the facility wont report you most likely I seen higher than whitney houston not get reported along with a side of just dont waste any!!! meds with them lol . But yeah only you know the truth . If there is a problem and dont get reported I had have a talk with your doctor and see pain management. Sometimes they over prescribe

New grad mistake
This is a blessing . I bet you'll never do this again . You'll get better and ask your preceptor if they wasted that medication . They could be dopephenes too lol . But yeah your new so stuff happens and like others said your preceptor is suppose to be your eyes and ears . they are partly to blame. I would take it like a grain of salt . When you get more experience youll see some nurses just overreact, dont care , and arent good teachers . I hope the rest of orientation goes well . and Do what I do waste before you go in the room ! and always waste .

Unruly CNAs, how to get them moving?
Since you are new Im gonna give it to you straight . Nursing and politics are a synonym. Nowadays you are considered a great worker 1. in that you work well , very rare in this age of nursing . 2. are friends with the boss very high in this age of nursing . Chances are your problem CNAs might be lazy , cant keep up the work , or are friends with the boss and know a paycheck will be there regardless of who you are . I would just delegate the tasks to the CNAs and allow them to choose who is doing what and right down who chooses to do wat . Divide and conquer. I have seen my problem CNAs get eaten by the wolves once the hard working cna got to choose their own tasks once delegated to them as a group . Also Id becareful of your boss your problem cnas might already be putting you on the chopping block

Possible error in judgement?
6 yr ER nurse . 1 yr cath lab nurse . I seen this before . If you palpated 56 and got that on the pulse ox chances are theyre probably right . The Ekg was probably picking up the electrical activity of atria depending on the ekg or she might of been moving or lead not on all the way or she was trembling / nervous you just couldnt see that she was. Heck even a crappy ekg machine all factors . I think it would be best to notify the doc incase she had a freak thing going on and documented that and rational if no further orders .

Students injected with wrong item
Poor students . If I was super ocd about meds , this causes me to be ultraOCD about meds . Im glad I refuse to give meds that others pulled up . I remember once had a code blue in cath lab for an egd study . I and another nurse had to give reversal agents and glad I had a nurse with me as well . I held open airway and suctioned . she was desating . Cardiologist yelled at her to give romazicon . She was flustered and gave it . The pt began acting weirder . After an ICU admission . I was cleaning the cath lab . I found a bottle of norepinephrine opened . I had to think ? if she gave it . Yup counted all the crash cart stuff . did the protocol for sentinal event. Sad put true . I always say a steady hand and a keen mind will save the day

Good Luck ? to them . I went to a job interview today ? ?. The interviewer wasnt professional .I asked about training , they had no one that was a sound woundcare nurse and stated that the house supervisor would train me . They said I had a year to get wound care certification . They told me no one there was certified. hospitals are shadier than slim shady . this business is sad

There are better jobs that are less stressful that also pay more. 4. Learn to say things like No and ignore texts messages to come in on your day off 5. If you dont like your boss chances are youll get a new one in 3 months 6. There are no bad jobs just bad peoples that work at your job

Ill say it folks Nursing is Officially dead . We have a bunch of cosplay nurses allover the business . Nurses now hire all there little buddies whether they are good or just horrible just becuase they like them . We are not dumb We can see you trashy managers and charges giving us the bad assignments and having your little pocket buddies float around . I have to work with new nurses that look like they should be parking my car at the valet or taking my order at restaurant and I have deal with all their behavioral issues and quirks. We nurses see you bad charges and managers put us in illegal situations and when we hand off to the charge to another nurse we see your wheels turning on how to terminate us . I really think they use the fact some people have starving children and need a roof over their head to do all this crazy illegal crap . Thank God I dont have kids and Im not starving . Id admit my jobs are slim pickins but I have a covnant not to sue from lifepoint sitting in my dresser from their illegal activities, I have a settlememt from the Giant HCA for 10k and Prime healthcare lol I divulge . Nowadays they dont want to train anybody they want to work everyone .I remember I was on my 3rd day at orientation in CATH LAB and they wanted me to help with a LUNG BIOPSY !!!! Staff or mangers that lack experience, lack of policies , lack of education , Equipment that doesnt work and lazy biomed. In accurate lab results and questioning of their ability to run labs , No transport , No techs . MDs that dont tell stages of care for the pt . dirty broken beds , crappy food . Cheap equipment. cant make this up . I tell you I had 10 interviews at some one of the best hospitals in the world at different branches . And the disrespect of the administration to get up 2-3 times to take of pts or reschedule in the actual interview is horrible . Im like Dang see why You dont have staff you lack professionalism. I love doing it becuase I after I graduated HS I had no purpose . My mother and father graduated from princeton . I justed wanted to not mooch off my patents like my friends . But TBH Id rather be a good man than a good nurse and put someones life in danger or provide less than sub par care . Whats sad is everyone is looking for a payday but whats sad is nobody is making any money . It dead folks . physical therapy is the future . cuz nobody cares and they dont work
