  1. Massachusetts NPs - A License Question!

Can you apply for licensure before you have a job? The online APRN licensing application requires that the applicant apply to be a provider (and fill out a provider application) for MassHealth but it appears you need an NPI number for that, which, as...
  2. FNP in Hospital Setting

Hi, I just accepted my first job as an FNP in a hospital setting. I'll be rounding on all patients in the hospital that will be on my service. Is there a specific personal malpractice insurance I should have? Certain criteria it should meet? I basica...
  3. FNP in Hospital Setting

Again, I shifted the conversation away from the role I will be having for Internet/security reasons. I was very vague in my description for privacy reasons. Yes, I’ll have some patients in the ICU but won’t be working with them outside of a consultat...
  4. FNP in Hospital Setting

OK so all I can add is my recent experience: new grad NP with 8yrs of RN experience. I was offered a job with no benefits at a weight loss clinic south of Boston for $89k. I basically laughed in their face. Was one of two final candidates at a large...
  5. FNP in Hospital Setting

I think you have a very valid argument. I have hesitated to respond because I don’t feel comfortable saying what I’ll be hired to do given that my username states my location. I truly feel as if I’ll be within scope given what the job is, but I’m fai...
  6. FNP in Hospital Setting

I mean, instead of a snarky gif, perhaps you could be helpful and use your actual, adult words and elaborate on what you are saying here? I did not ever work in a hospital as an RN so this is foreign to me on every level and I am asking for guidance/...
  7. FNP in Hospital Setting

Yes it’s a speciality, not a hospitalist-type job. I will be rounding on ICU patients but in a largely consultative role for the specialty - so, not responsible for day-to-day care, but rather consultative for things like vent weans, etc. I feel like...
  8. What credentials do I use?

Hi! i received my official certification from the AANP today. It says I can use the credentials “NP-C.” I was in an FNP program so would I use FNP-C? Also, are my official credentials “My Name MSN, APRN, NP-C?” I am also currently working as an RN - ...
  9. What credentials do I use?

Thanks. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to become licensed. Apparently it is tied to Medicaid in my state and that application is about as easy to understand as Astrophysics.
  10. Passed AANP on Monday...I Have Questions!

Hi! I took the AANP as an FNP on Monday and I have a "preliminary pass." I have a few questions: 1) What licenses should I obtain now and what should I wait for a potential future employee to pay for (no jobs on the horizon currently)? 2) Are there a...
  11. Passed AANP on Monday...I Have Questions!

Thanks for this! A specialty does sound super interesting to me. I did a clinical rotation in a Minute Clinic and felt like it wouldn't be a good learning environment since you are solo after 3 weeks.
