    Nurse Educator Career Path

I am in an entry-level MSN program, recently passed the NCLEX (woohoo!), and now have nine months left until I graduate. I have realized that I am drawn toward teaching or possibly some type of coordinating position. I certainly appreciate and respect the value in having hands-on nursing experience before transitioning into teaching, but I also know that most bedside nursing isn't for me. To clarify, I am interested in teaching foundational, didactic coursework or topics like leadership or ethics. Can you share any thoughts on pursuing this career path without 2+ years of floor experience, as is usually recommended/required on faculty job postings? Do you have any recommendations on other jobs that I might not know about? Thanks so much!

    Master's Entry vs. Accelerated Bachelor's

Thank you, @Ohm108 and @dirtyrice. That's what I suspected, and it is great to have it confirmed!

    Master's Entry vs. Accelerated Bachelor's

I am in the same boat. I've been accepted to an entry-level msn advanced generalist program and an accelerated bsn program. I am leaning strongly toward the master's, since the cost ($72k vs $60k) and program length (27 months vs 15 months) aren't very different. One thing I'm not sure of, though, is how helpful a master's degree actually is. Does it really open more doors? Does it often mean higher pay? Or is it mainly just a helpful gateway into pursuing specialties down the road (like CNM)?

    OHSU ABSN 2019-2020

I'll be in that interview, too! Anyone know how many applicants are interviewed and how many are usually accepted for Ashland?

    OHSU ABSN 2019-2020

YAY for hope! Thanks so much for checking on that, @eastcoasttowestcoast. It doesn't mean I'll get in, but I'm so glad to know that I still have a chance. I applied to ten schools, but OHSU is my first choice.

    USF MSN-CNL (Non-Nurses) - Summer 2019

Just to clarify- is this thread for University of San Francisco's ME-MSN program? (The program for non-nurses, at the San Francisco campus, starting Summer 2019) If so, hello, fellow applicants!

So if we haven't received any emails yet, is it safe to assume we were not in the first or second wave of offers? Does anyone know if that essentially means rejection at this point?

    OHSU ABSN 2019-2020

Hi all, Long-time listener, first-time caller. I applied to the Ashland ABSN program and have not heard anything yet either. Still trying to stay hopeful for another week or so.
