  1. LVN to patient ratio California

Just tossing out there that you shouldn't be doing any charting on your own time. Not only is that completely unfair to you, it could have legal implications for your employer if any of that charting came up if they were sued for whatever reason. As...
  2. Exactly how many hours do you want to spend per week in each class? For an instructor to teach you everything you need to know, you’d probably be in a single 4 credit class for over 20 hours a week. Imagine how much college would cost then.
  3. Colorado New Grad BSN pay?

The pay doesn't sound bad until you compare it to the cost of living. It's getting very expensive in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas. But it might be doable for you on a starting salary if you don't have kids and a bigger home because of it. Th...
  4. Starting in Home Health - Is the Experience Viable?

Ok that totally makes sense. For some reason I was reading that as a new LPN grad would be okay going right into home health, and as a new grad LPN I was wracking my brain for why that might be. Thanks for clarifying! ?
  5. Should I go from LPN to RN at age 60?

I say go for it. If you work in LTC, going from an LPN to an RN is a big pay increase (around $10/hr in my area) for doing the same work (at least in the facilities I've seen/worked in). Sure, it also opens up possibilities in hospitals, but new grad...
  6. Starting in Home Health - Is the Experience Viable?

Genuinely curious, why would being an LPN change things in this situation?
  7. LVN JOB ( no experience how do i get hired)

Have you looked into long term care? Even if it isn't your jam, a year there might make it easier to get into urgent care or subacute.
  8. Accelerated LPN Programs

The program I am finishing up in a couple of weeks was an accelerated 10 month program. I can't even wrap my brain around a 6 or 8 month program, especially if prereqs are included in the program. Don't do that to yourself if such a program exists.
  9. CBD oil made from hemp has no THC and is legal in all states. Maybe give that a try?
  10. I hope he is okay.

Or he had been drinking/using drugs, or didn't have insurance or a license. Or...I might just be jaded. ?
  11. Is Nursing Dangerous?

Honestly I've hurt myself worse at a desk job. Nothing worse for your back than sitting in front of a computer for 40-60 hours a week.
  12. Taking A&P 1&2 at the same time

How much time do you have before classes would start? If you have a few weeks to self-study before classes start, that would help. Like the last poster said, only you know what you are capable of when you put your mind to it. I know it can be done, b...
  13. LPN to RN

I’m not, but I know some fellow LPNs who are applying, or will be next year. I noticed that their prerequisites seem limited, and I would think given the distance it might be a little less competitive than some programs. I’m down in the Springs area...
  14. LPN to RN

Fort Morgan? Quite a haul, but not a lot of choices in Denver. ?
  15. How many people made it to the end of the program?

Updating mine now that we're 3/4 of the way through (LPN program). We are now at exactly 50% of the original cohort set to graduate on time. My school allows for one term repeat if anything is failed, so keeping my fingers crossed that most will get ...
  16. Online PreReq suggestions?

I think this advice may be a bit outdated. At least from the ones I've researched, I've only found one that cared (of probably close to ten schools). With community colleges especially, there's no way to tell if you took the lab online or in person b...
  17. LPN TO RN (ADN) BRIDGE IN COLORADO

If you look at most of the community college websites they have that info posted. Yes you have to do the same prerequisites as direct entry into the ADN program. The ones I've looked at are around 3 semesters (counting summer, so one full year). I th...
  18. How many people made it to the end of the program?

I think I read the national average is something like 50%. My program allows for one repeat of a failed class, so it might end up higher. But I think we're down to about 75% who are still on schedule to graduate on time in my cohort, and we're only a...
  19. LPN-RN cost

I've seen it from a little under 10k to over 30k. Look at the cost of the program and how long it will take you to make up by your increase in wages. If it will only take you a couple of years to pay it back, I'd call it worthwhile.
  20. Student Loan Help

That doesn't seem insane at all to me. Good luck with your program!
  21. New Grad Application Rejection

Hi there, just wanted to ask if you're sure LTC pays worse than hospitals in your area? In my area (Denver and surrounding), they tend to pay $10/hr more than the starting wage at hospitals. Also, do you mention in your eduction section that you are ...
  22. Laptop vs IPad for note taking

Also, before you invest in something for note-taking in class, make sure you're allowed to do so in your program. My program only allows note-taking via non-electronic means (although most teachers will also allow you to record the lectures).
  23. I PASSED!!!

Congratulations! I'm halfway through a program right now. My only advice is that if you don't have to work (especially full-time) then don't. My program is super accelerated though, so yours may be easier to work through. Also, practice questions are...
  24. Online LPN to RN/BSN Help

Thank you! I will definitely reach out to them for more info.
  25. Online LPN to RN/BSN Help

Do you know if the program gives credit for or has a pathway for already having your LPN?
