  1. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

Hello fellow pre-nursing students! This is a thread for those who are applying to The University of North Georgia's Nursing Program to start Fall 2019. Share your stats, HESI tips, and eventually acceptance/rejection notices. I am a post-baccalaur...
  2. Thoughts on vegetarian/ vegan diet

Thank you! I have a BS in Dietetics and have basically spent a good portion of my life correcting bad "nutrition" advice. Didactic students take courses that teach the chemistry behind micro and macronutrient absorption, so they really understand th...
  3. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

Congratulations to those who were accepted today! I was accepted to the Gainesville campus and look forward to meeting you ?
  4. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

I agree- I’ll be done w prereqs in April so I’d prefer to take it over the summer (if accepted). Hopefully they will offer it as a choice ?
  5. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

    Thank you!!
  6. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

Hey guys! Thanks for sharing your updates. I haven’t heard anything in my classes besides what I posted last so it’s good to not feel totally in the dark about everything. I hope we don’t have to wait until March! Im a little confused about taking t...
  7. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

I'm a little anxious also. It seems that the days are creeeepping by. Literally every student except one in my micro class has applied to the program or is going to apply for Spring 2020. The general consensus is that we will get The E-Mail in Mar...
  8. Is there something wrong with me? Too much studying?

I like to study. It genuinely makes me happy. I have changed my language from "I have to study" or "I need to study" to "I want to study" so that my family and friends understand that I'm not forcing myself to do anything. That being said, you obv...
  9. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

I have not heard of this point system but it makes sense! Thanks for sharing :)
  10. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

Hi guys- I'm just here to post an update on my final stats. I still don't know which GPA they're going to look at. I graduated from UGA w/a 3.57 but a while ago. Got a 4.0 for one semester of grad school (not sure if they will look at that). This se...
  11. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

Hi misako! I also have heard/read differing stories of acceptance with varying GPAs and HESI scores. Perhaps the personality test is a factor. Any successful program would likely want a variety of personality and learning types present, but it's...
  12. RN, ADN being obsolete

That's interesting insight, and I'm sure you would know much more than I would about this subject. Thank you for your insight, genuinely.
  13. RN, ADN being obsolete

Not bursting my bubble. It seems to me that you are very obviously unhappy as a nurse.
  14. RN, ADN being obsolete

That makes sense. I personally am not sure what exact scope of nursing I want to do just yet. I would expect to be treated like a professional no matter what profession I'm in, so I'm not sure what you mean by that. I was a server at one point, an...
  15. RN, ADN being obsolete

Yep, I understand this. The original message said "hospitals prefer a certification over a BSN" and I took this to mean ADN and not a SPECIALTY certification. An RN w/a BSN can still get a certification, so I don't really understand this person's p...
  16. RN, ADN being obsolete

Ehh... Sorry but I'll have to disagree with you here. I have a degree in dietetics and that has been very helpful, just in life because SO MANY employers want a bachelor's degree in SOMETHING. While I understand what you're saying, and make no mist...
  17. RN, ADN being obsolete

Pump the brakes on the drama. I was legit asking. I'm a pre-nursing student applying to a BSN program, so this is relevant info for me. From what I understand, it's the speciality certification that is more attractive to a hospital, which I assume ca...
  18. RN, ADN being obsolete

Why would a hospital prefer a lower education over a higher one?
  19. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

It's hard to say exactly bc the questions were so random for me. Some were very specific and others were vague. I'd definitely make sure you understand broad concepts, how the organ systems work together, important hormones, etc.
  20. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

The app I used was only $15, and I definitely think it was worth it because it enables you to test your knowledge and identify areas of weakness so that you can focus your study more in those areas. It's called Hesi A2 Pocket Prep.
  21. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

You choose which sections you want to do first. The whole exam is timed, not individual sections, so you need to keep track of time. If you encounter a question that you are taking too long to decide on, it's best to just make your best guess and mov...
  22. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

There isn't a fee to apply to the nursing program once you are accepted to the university. There is a fee to apply to the university. It's not much- similar to what most schools charge.
  23. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

While that score is probably good enough for acceptance, I would take it again if I were you so that you're above the average and not below. If you think you can do better, that's especially a reason to re-take it. If you took it today, you can tak...
  24. A&p 1

What? You are leaving entire words out of your posts (or using the wrong words). Why are you getting saucy when people give you good, reasonable answers to, in my opinion, a really dumb question. You study until you are able to recall the information...
  25. UNG Fall 2019 Cohort

Yes I think that's plenty of time. You may want to e-mail the nursing department just in case to make sure. From my understanding, you just have to take it by 12/15. The don't start putting everything together and offering seats until Jan/Feb.
