Experienced Nurse training program into specialty?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if there are experienced nurse training programs into specialties in Las Vegas? I see a lot of new grad training programs advertised, but nothing for experienced nurses. I have 7 years of telemetry/step down experience and I want to explore critical care/pediatrics. Thank you for your help!

How to get NICU job without experience?
I am in the same boat. I took a S.T.A.B.L.E class and I stayed after to speak with the instructor who was a NICU RN. I asked her this same question and she told me that if all else fails, they like post partum nurses. This is because you will get experience with "normal, healthy" babies and will know their normal baseline of health. I guess similar to starting in adult med surg and then transferring to adult critical care if that makes sense. Good luck!

does day shift exist?
Hi everyone, I am currently an adult stroke RN looking to transition to womens health/L&D. It seems in my area (Los angeles) that day shift positions are near impossible to get if new to the specialty. I have over 5 years experience with adults with my PCCN certification. I already did night shift as a new grad for 1 year and it literally was making me sick being on nights. Plus my husband leaves at 2am for work 6 days a week, so my kids need me home at night. Am i crazy for looking for a day shift position? do these even exist for transitioning nurses? anyone start on day shift?

Transitioning to L&D
Thank you! I think I will go to the interview anyways and let them know I prefer day shift. They do the training program every 6 months, so maybe I can ask them to keep me in mind!

Birthing gowns
I myself prefered Hospital gowns when I delivered because birth can be messy, but I would be OK with whatever the mom felt comfortable in. I just changed into a nursing/pajama dress after I gave birth for comfort! I love that you call them johnnies! I have never heard that before. I'm in CA.

Transitioning to L&D
Hi everyone, I have been an RN for over 5 years now on a stroke/tele floor. I finally got an interview for labor and delivery through the training program where I work for current employees. The only thing is, it's night shift. I worked night shift for a year when I was a new grad and really struggled physically with that shift. And I now have 2 small children. Did anyone start new on labor and delivery on day shift? Or do I have to bite the bullet and go on nights until a day shift position opens? I don't want to pass up this opportunity if night shift is the "normal" starting shift. What were your experiences and which shift did you start on?
