  1. BSN-MSN Education

An FNP is a NP; so, it will be fine. To start a new topic, just click on the green button at the top right of the forum that states, "Add New Topic." Good luck in School and welcome to allnurses!!!
  2. Triage scenario, opinions needed.

We keep people all the time...until...a) a responsible adult assumes care of them...or b) the doctor believes the pt is no longer intoxicated. Here is a good read if anyone is interested.... Management of the Intoxicated Patient in the Emergency Dep...
  3. So disappointed with on-line program

I'm happy to hear that you are out there fighting the good fight. Hopefully, your peers will join you, and we will see change. I know it is not an easy fight, but it is one that I believe can be won!
  4. NP Jobs still looking pretty good.

Haha...it's ok to think that way. Believe me, what I think when I read some posts would get me banned from Allnurses. I just would like to see more positive posts. Nursing is a wonderful profession and has given me a lot over the years.
  5. So disappointed with on-line program

I agree with you 100%. I do believe the standards should be increased. I wonder how many of the many NP's that complain about the low standards are out there really trying to make an impact. Do they even attend their association meetings? Do they try...
  6. NP Jobs still looking pretty good.

I understand the concerns that affect people's career. I guess my post wasn't real clear. I am not talking specifically about the negativity on the NP threads. It is the whole site. Certainly, you can find threads on here where people are arguing abo...
  7. NP Jobs still looking pretty good.

I just wanted to say that I truly appreciate your positivity. It'd be nice to see more people like you here. I see Allnurses as a "Professional Message Board"; so, it disappoints me when I see so much negativity. The truth is it is nursing in general...
  8. So disappointed with on-line program

I am still looking into various programs and speaking to my co-workers. As I stated in my first post, "I WILL NEED to attend an online university." Thus, I am not currently in a program. I have 12 years of RN experience. I thought most programs have ...
  9. So disappointed with on-line program

I stand corrected. I guess we are in agreement. I repeatedly stated that I am all for raising the standards of all online schools. I guess you could have corrected my misunderstanding from the beginning, but instead you chose to talk down to me. You ...
  10. So disappointed with on-line program

Look what I found while looking at the NP forum. You are saying the same thing for which you are trying to belittle me. Interesting. You said this person would need to read more on their own in order to make up for the program's low standards. You sa...
  11. So disappointed with on-line program

I am sure you are a wonderful provider and certainly showed dedication. I have a lot of respect for what you did to obtain your goal. I, too, will have to make sacrifices. I'm sure not on the level of what you did, but there will be sacrifices. The b...
  12. So disappointed with on-line program

There are people that go to med school and PA school that have kids, quit their jobs, and move. But some can't. Some have family that can watch the kids. Some do not need the income. Med students will get loans to live on because they will be doctors...
  13. So disappointed with on-line program

The difference is...one would be an "eye witness account" that would all but ensure a conviction...the other would not be sufficient to even go to court. But, you already knew that. So it is ok that you believed in yourself prior to being rigorousl...
  14. So disappointed with on-line program

I agree with you about "low quality schools." I personally would be on board with raising the standards...and having a standard across the board as far as curriculum, clinicals, etc. I do not see how entrance exams affect the quality of graduates. Ye...
  15. So disappointed with on-line program

I certainly never claimed to be "well above average in just about everything." It's not even about me. It's a question as to whether online schools are sufficient to put out quality NPs or not. Ironically, Dodongo agrees there are quality online scho...
  16. So disappointed with on-line program

How can you reply to something that you didn't read? Maybe you would have understood someone else's point/reason. I have no problem with creating higher standards for online programs. If you would have read my reply you would know why I disagree. A...
  17. So disappointed with on-line program

What? Of course there is a difference between "I believe" and "I know that I will be a great provider." You seriously do not know the difference? So you think the outcome would be the same if I said "I believe that guy is the one that shot my friend"...
  18. So disappointed with on-line program

I truly can't say if it does or doesn't. I'd say you are a better judge of that. I am not an NP and have never taken the test. I was just asking so that I could make sure I understood your point. I never considered the debt issue. Your points are int...
  19. So disappointed with on-line program

I thank you for your reply. It is an interesting thought. So, are you saying that you believe that the real issues are the debt created and that minimum competency is not enough? I ask because point 1 & 2 seem to suggest that you believe the cert...
  20. So disappointed with on-line program

I agree. I do believe that the program should have quality curriculum. I am for higher standards. I just believe that one can get a quality education online. It seems some think online equals poor quality. And yes, I admitted that there are poor onli...
  21. So disappointed with on-line program

Did you actually read my post? I never said that "I know I'll be a great provider" did I? Please reread it. I stated that "I believe" that I would be one. And, I do not "prove it" by going to school or taking the route that you want for me. I prove i...
  22. Direct Entry NP Programs: Anti-Intellectualism/Bullying

The short answer is....don't worry about what others think. It is your life. It is legal. You can do it. Long answer...I am one of those that believe there should be a minimum amount of RN experience prior to becoming an NP, much like there is for CR...
  23. So disappointed with on-line program

Quitting my job is not an option. It would be very hard to replace my income in another job. Even if my wife started working, it would not be enough to supplement my income or pay the bills. If I didn't have bills, that would be a different story. I ...
  24. So disappointed with on-line program

I can respect that, but I do not want to be 50 y/o and just starting my new NP career. I am sure many have started their career at 50. It is just not what I want. I truly wish that I would have went back to school earlier, but such is life. I am prou...
  25. Education Conspiracy

I believe the true problem is that college is just not what it use to be!! We have lowered standards because we feel that "everyone is entitled to a degree" of his/her own choice. Thus, the difference between ADN or BSN is usually some fluff courses....
