I’m graduating this December! Unfortunately the schedules are subject to change every semester- but historically 3rd semester is Monday and Tuesday in the early morning-mid afternoon for the didactic portion. Because you are an LVN I don’t believe you need to take maternity, so you will only be taking the Medsurg III class on Tuesdays (and not coming for Maternity on Monday). On top of that you’ll be completing clincial hours as well! Your clincial hours vary based on which location you are placed in. Unfortunately we don’t get to choose where we go- it’s all preselected for us! You’ll probably be grouped with the other LVNs for your clincial site. It’s always a little strange for the LVNs because you will be joining a cohort that has already been taking classes together for a year, but you’ll also have about 9 other LVNs joining with you so you’re not alone!

Hi RosieSs! I know your question wasn’t directed at me but wanted to provide you some insight. The LVNs don’t start the program with the incoming class. You will actually jump in with the incoming 3rd semester students (and their classes actually become combined during that semester. So no more weekend/evening and standard- they’re all together).

Thats strange! I am in the W/E cohort as well. If there's any advice I can give is get ready to be very flexible. The didactic schedule and clinical schedules change very frequently! And when you get into your 3rd semester the W/E and Standard class will actually merge together and you will switch to days. You will also have to find time to complete mandatory volunteer hours and certifications as well.

Congrats to those of you who got in! For those that were rejected I HIGHLY recommend emailing Frezoli back, and ask her to please keep you in mind if any seats do become available. Of course it’s not a guarantee, but she will keep those emails on standby. I know of people who were initially rejected but were offered alternate positions later on. For those who got in and would like information about the program/first semester, again feel free to message me!

They will send you an email! I took the TEAS October 25th and got my my letter on November 9th.

Of course! I remember waiting to hear back and going nuts/wishing I had someone to help answer questions. 1. My stats were okay! For GCC they use a lottery system to select their candidates, so grades don’t matter too much as long as you meet their chancellors formula requirement (and if you took the TEAS then you definitely met it!). I had gotten B’s in anatomy, Physio, and micro. And all A’s on the rest of my generals. At the time I think my GPA was a 3.5. On the teas I got an 86. 2. I got in on my first application! I initially got what’s called an “alternate” spot. But then a student didn’t claim their seat so I was moved into the program. Aside from the 40 seats, there are 10 more alternate positions for students to fill in case people decide to reject their offers. These 10 students are guaranteed a spot in the next semester if spots don’t end up opening during the semester they applied for. 3. I only applied to GCC! 4. I can’t not stress enough how wonderful GCC is! The professors, the classes, the opportunities, and the clincial sites are absolutely amazing. Our program has one of the only Preceoptorships left at community colleges! Can’t recommend this schooo enough. It has a wonderful reputation in the area, a high NCLEX pass rate, and our alumni have no problems getting jobs.

Hello everyone, I am currently a first semester student at GCC in their nursing program. I just wanted to say that in my cohort I know at least half of the students who are in our program were initially denied a placement or selected as an alternate- but were accpeted into the program when seats began opening up. Some of the students that were offered a placement WILL deny their seats, so make sure you email the department back and ask them to keep your application for any openings!

Creating a Facebook page is such a great idea! Thank you for all your support, makes things a little less scary!

@Koop101 and @sambelike I was also going to mention that there is also a drug and background screening those accepted have to pass as well. I've already gotten my drug test back so that was a bit quicker, but they told me at the finger printing facility that it could take up to 20 days! I know it's a long shot so it's best not to get your hopes up too high, but people may not pass those requirements. Crossing my fingers for you guys!

Yay congrats!! So happy a lot of our cohort is on this thread! :) I was able to pick and schedule an appointment for both! @SoftballNurse4949 I believe our orientation is on Dec 14th!

LOL I thought the same thing!!

I did the fingerprinting and when they asked me for a payment I told them that it should have already been paid for, then I handed the woman the sheet I printed from the website. I'll be doing the drug screening tomorrow- but it should have all been included in your package! If you paid anything else I'd call them!
