  1. Nerves?

Just an update. I've been volunteering more and more to do labs to get more practice. I've noticed when I put the patients arm in a dependent position and I don't have the patient right there staring at me and every move I make, I have a much easier ...
  2. Walmart cashiers wearing gloves?

Paper cuts are a B***h!!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ maybe? Handling paper (money) all day can dry out your hands too. Also, I find it easier to turn pages in charts/narc books faster if I'm wearing gloves. Who knows... I have thought about this too though an...
  3. Medications for a dying patient

Morphine, ativan, oxygen, atropine, Tylenol Now think about why and what route would be best?
  4. Nerves?

This isn't just a shake, it's like the fight or flight syndrome with me... i was hyped on adrenaline and then I come down kinda shakes
  5. Nerves?

My mother told me the same thing. I didn't want this to turn into a medical advice topic because we don't do that here, but you both may be onto something. I'll look into it. It really is awful, my entire body starts shaking like I'm nervous as hell,...
  6. Nerves?

I do have an intention tremor, but that's when I'm concentrating on hitting a small target and it's only my hands. Like I said, the shaking doesn't start until after I'm already in the vein so I don't think that's it. I'm at a loss. Edit: and no, tha...
  7. Nerves?

Hi all, Long time no post. I have an issue that I've been dealing with for a bit and thought I'd turn to my awesome nursing community for some ideas or to find out if anyone else suffers from the same thing. Where I work, I don't have to draw blood v...
  8. Should I retake Anatomy 1 if I made a C?

At my school it just listed highest GPA to lowest and the first 100 people on the list got in. Depends on the school I suppose, some schools do interviews. Research time!
  9. CNA and community college at the same time?

You can learn so much as a CNA. I think my first year of nursing school we learned more from the CNAs than we did the nurses. Not only will it get you comfortable working with patients, but you will pick up some stuff from the nurses as well.
  10. OB clinical rotation question

and this is how questions should go on this website. Good job aw!
  11. Patient Safety at Risk/ Transfer to another job?

I think it would look good during an interview if you are allowed to explain yourself
  12. Where to work during nursing school?

Another time we had someone with an INR of 5.2, my CNA asked "that means they aren't clotting right"? Was a perfect opportunity to teach why we monitor INR and yes that means they can bleed out
  13. Where to work during nursing school?

As you learn things in nursing school you will be able to see how it really affects the real life world if you continue your CNA job. I recently had a CNA struggling with fluid overload and we had a patient with CHF... it kinda just clicked for them
  14. Would and how would you address no pay raise in over a year?

If you feel valued, I would simply go to your ADON or DON and tell them that you love working there but you are seeking incentive to stay (bills etc). If you are valuable to them they may make some changes. this route could have the opposite effect ...
  15. Multiple CNA's refusing assigned task

I have formed a very good relationship with my CNA's, if I ask them to do something not on their assignment, they know I really need the help. I've not had to write anyone up (yet) due to this. They know I will do anything I can to help them out if I...
