Hi, I am a nurse who graduated a nursing program in Bulgaria in 1993, and practiced there for four years, before moving to the US. My recently legalized and translated Diploma describes my degree as a "Professional Baccalaureate in Nursing".I passed the NCLEX in December of 2011, and am currently licensed to practice as an RN.I am applying for employment but am not sure how to list my degree on my resume, since the program I graduated is not a four year, but a three year program. The nursing schools in my country now offer two types of Baccalaureate Degrees - the professional baccalaureate in nursing in three years, and the Baccalaureate in Nursing in four years. Sounds complicated, right? I am really confused as to what is right to list as my degree on a resume in the US. Any advice please, if you have had such an experience?

I would list it exactly as described on the diploma itself, whatever the "official" name of the degree is. People who have questions about what that means, specifically, can ask you about it in an interview.

There are people in universities who specialize in this, because of foreign students applying for application.
My husband works for a school system that hires a lot of teachers who were internationally-trained, and part of his job for this year was "translating" their degrees into the US system, since there is no direct correlation. He contacted knowledgeable people- for instance, for a French one, he contacted someone from the French department at the University here. The department was surprisingly helpful and he got the information that he needed.
However, your degree has to correlate somewhere on our confusing nursing education continuum!
Thanks so much!

Hi There,
I'm a Romanian graduated nurse. I finished scoala post liceala sanitara (sanitary post secondary school 3 years) and I would like to ask if anyone know what is the equivalent degree in the states is Associates or Bachelor degree.
