expect for delays. Ca BON wait time is approx 3-5 months or even longer on certain instances. I received mine within 3 months. others waited more than that. Sometimes international mail can be very slow especially during Dec and January period. Dont worry it will come! besides, Ca. BON is just a phone call away if u have any queries. Best of luck!
Hi, CA BON sent me a letter asking for a copy of my local nursing license to complete my NCLEX application. Is a photocopy of it authenticated by the PRC ( Philippines) enough?I think I'll have my eligibility after they receive this. Another question, can I just send it through express mail? Thanks a lot.

I sent mine Sept. 5,07. They wrote me on Dec. 27,07 but it arrived 1st week of January due to holidays. You better have your license photocopied and authenticated now, PRC do it 5 days yet. Send it to CA BON asap and do not wait for their letter anymore. I should have done that beforehand if only I knew because it's the only thing they asked me.

Please note and check with BON but there has been talk of Ca changing requirements to needing a local license with application from 1st Jan 08.
Moving this to the International forum as more pertaining to there and plenty of information already written.
Also heading changed as not applying for NCLEX but to be a RN in the US
I applied to CA BON then and it took 4 months. If you call them, they'll tell you that it takes 4-6months.Just wait,i know how you fell cos i've been there before. But let me tell you,the time they took to give me eligibility letter gave me enough time to read and make it the very first time i took the board.Use this time to read and flip your books back to back.Goodluck.Azor
Please wait at least four months before contacting them. To look at it from the other side, the more phone calls that they receive, the longer that it takes for someone to get approval from them. They have not increased their staff.
But please be very aware of this, and that is the fact that CA does not issue a license if you do not have a SSN# and the letter that they send to tell you that you passed is only valid for three years. If they do not receive a SSN# from you by then, your file is destroyed. And since you will not be getting a license number issued, you cannot endorse to another state.
It is now expected to take about five years to even have a chance at a green card.
CA is not recommended for initial licensure for a foreign nurse.
Much has already been written on this on this forum. Please look for the other threads on the topic.
