Priority questions on nclex

Published

I took the nclex and failed :( I had a lot of priority questions and I tried to go with Maslow, ABCD, and acute over chronic and still had issues picking an answer. They all seemed to be so similar.

Also, which would matter more potassium of 3.4 or sodium of 125?

I will. Same here lol. 45 days of studying...yay

Don't get down Maja. I was in the same boat. I went for the whole 265 questions. I got a lot of follow up and priority questions and oddly enough only had about 20 sata. I'm gonna make a larger post but what I did was basically do every single question on the NCLEX mastery app, and do the Hurst Content Review. Its worth every dollar! Keep your head up guys. I failed 4 times and passed the 5th time. The last 3 times I went the whole 265 so its passable at 265. Just keep studying and remember you cant know it all. good luck guys!

Thanks for the tips! I have the hurst review and I also got the lacharity prioritization and delegation book.

Hi Maja3699 if you ever want to study the Hurst Review . I also have Lacharity as well. I just started with Hurst Review. It's pretty good. Thank you Mrsmckenziern85 for all your helpful tips!!! Here is a great clinical skills site with amazing photos and notes to add to your Hurst Review Clinical Procedures for Safer Patient Care | Open Textbook

My pleasure! Glad to be of any help!

I actually found the priority book online for free and there's a different version of it on quizlet if you want to check it out. Saved me a bunch of money so if you want to find it just google it. Let me know if you need any help :)

True. I start to first understand from Kaplan strategies the type of questions such application and analysis and when I write questions from the Hurst Videos I listen for "first" "next" etc words and delegation words . you start to become a critical thinker and critical listener. It helps to first become obsessed on how these questions are formatted on the nclex before going over content. That's the difference . I haven't taken the exam yet, but it has given me a navigation from what others have expressed about this exam

if anyone wants to study please let me know. a plus if you have hurst so we can go over videos at the same time.

I only got the book no videos though

I didn't know they had a book.

I agree with @MrsMcKenzieRn, La Charity helps me to understand priority, delegation and assignment. I am an IEN and we don't have much delegations, these things are new to me and that book just guides me everyday! Personally, I am learning a lot with PDA. I'm hoping and praying that I can pass the NCLEX this year, this will be my first time taking it.

About the priority question, I encountered a question from lippincott, almost similar but it's magnesium vs. potassium. I picked the wrong answer, then when I read the rationale, the clear reason was the magnesium is way lower than the normal although potassium on that scenario is also low but not critical. So I think same rule applies on this one.

I'm sure you'll do great!

BTW,,,, I looked up the book you were discussing regarding prioritizing and delegation and i found a link to it on a quizlet page created by someone who apparently had the book. Here is the link,,,, plus i have noticed that question about NA and K has been discussed on several other forums,,, apparently it is on a lot of tests,, just saying https://quizlet.com/43461580/prioritization-delegation-and-assignment-practice-exercises-for-the-nclex-examination-flash-cards/
